Between George foreman and sonny liston who would do better against today's heavyweights

Not a whose better between foreman or liston but who would do the best against today's heavyweight fighters

 

Both would do just fine. Liston was slightly more limited physically but he was also a better boxer. Both were strong, powerfull and naturally big men. Given modern approach I think that Foreman would fight at around 240-50 lbs. Liston probably at 230, maybe more.

 

They'd both do well although you could argue for Foreman since he'd be closer in overall size to today's heavies

 

Considering I think both would go undefeated there isn't really an answer, coz its a draw. But I'd pick Foreman to beat Liston so I'll say Foreman

 

Tyson Fury gives these guys fits. Liston is strong, has stamina, but isn't very smart. He followed Cassius Clay in a circle for about 5 rounds...no clue on cutting off the ring. Fury makes him look bad. Depending on the ref...if Foreman is allowed to push off, then it is a long night for Fury. If ref gets involved, he does worse to him than Jimmy Young did.

And I can't envision any scenario where Ruiz drops or stops either. He will engage, but there is something these 2 have that Ruiz has...a dog inside! They ain't backing down.

Liston & Foreman IMO stops Ruiz via corner or ref, not the fighter himself.
Tough to say on AJ, to denigrate him for one fight...so until he proves he can adjust, he gets stopped early by both.

Wilder has a puncher's chance, as in all his fights. Whyte, Brezeale, eaten up as a snack.

 

Foreman had the size to compete (height and bulk). Liston was thick and bulky, but he might have been in that way a bit like Ruiz.

Certainly Liston would have made out against Joshua the way Ruiz did...more vicious though.

Foreman vs.

Deontay: Wilder has a catastrophic right which would no doubt seriously hurt Foreman (I'm leaning toward saying the former's right was about on par with George's...which I know is saying one yeah-hoo of a lot). But George might have been the more complete puncher. In their primes...that's a tough call. If George gets hit with the right early he's sure to fall, but he more than proved his heart against Lyle and would have bounced back up for a 6th round kayo.

Fury: George gets really irritated by the jab of Tyson Fury, plus the size factor. Prime George mostly only liked short fights, and Fury would extend this one. Fury by TKO in 10.

Ruiz: Ha-ha. George lands a catastrophic right hand and he go bye-bye.

 

What heavyweight in history would you say wouldn't be following Clay around? Who would be consistently cornering him? Fury's mobility isn't remotely in the stratosphere of Clay.

Foreman loss by TKO10 is a bull****.

 

Not sure who'd fare better, but both would obliterate todays division.

 

Tyson’s mobility is mainly slipping punches on the ropes, his movement as in moving round the ring constantly is not anyway near a clay or even many 210-225lbs heavyweights of the past, so I see him getting pinned on the ropes eventually and without immense power to deter either foreman or liston, it will happen a few times in the fight and he will be caught like he did against wilder but a lot earlier as they can box better and cut the ring off better than wilder. They also have power in either hand not just the right so he will be getting hit more often hard on either side so doesn’t bode well for Tyson imo.

He's already proved himself against elite fighters from multiple eras.

Liston was a great fighter too, but the demographics of the fight game have changed quite drastically from his hey day

 

You mean the demographics of the game has changed where the coddled fighters of today won't even fight each other? AJ, Wilder, and Fury , what? 1 sh**ty fight between the 3 of them .. how many times has Thurman, Crawford, and Spence fought each other? Liston cleaned out the division . Hell the guys today wont even get in the ring with each other
