In fairness, it mostly hangs on people actually watching his fights and observing the impact of his punches.

I wouldn't call him a genius, but he clearly did have pretty good skills. It also seems like he blew hot and cold, to me. Maybe some consistency issues.

I have to agree with you. Rahman was a very strong guy, durable and decently skilled. He definitely troubles max. I think Max could win, but he'd have to be at his best, and Schmeling was an inconsistent fighter. There's no way it'd be easy.

Agree. Rahman is another hot-and-cold guy, but the one thing he did have was a big punch. 240lb refrigerator vs 190lb Schmeling. Gee I wonder who hit harder? Schmeling might have hit harder P4P though.

He looked like an extremely skilled boxing master in other fights too. Watch his second fight against Sharkey, he completely outboxed him. He was also very savy defensive fighter.

I know, his plan was bad. Sometimes it happens, even to the best fighters. Schmeling would likely fare better in rematch, Baer probably surprised him.

Yep. I know these are just highlights, but Schmeling was skilled.

Rahman was hands down the harder puncher.

I'd say the punch that ko'd Lewis was harder than anything Max ever threw ,how many rights did the German need to finally stop Louis?

Bro, Hasim Rahman outweighed Schelling by nearly 40 pounds, i dont think there's any question as to hit harder.
Also vitali ducked Rahman for years and even retired for 4 years rather than having to face him

Yeah if this is all about whether Schmeling could have Koed Lewis with one punch like Rahman did then no Schmeling couldn’t have done that.

OK, so how would you say that he compares to the other top punchers of the era?

Was he in the class of Tua or Morrison?

Was he in the A tier, the B tier, or the C tier?

In terms of one-punch power? I'd probably make Tua an A+ and Rahman an A. Why do you ask?
