Watching him against Colby he was known as a pressure guy, he was constantly going backwards getting taken down at will and out paced in every area. Worrying thing was the lack of being able to pull the trigger in stand up, he had good head movement to avoid shots but did sweet eff all in return. Doesn't seem like he has any improvement left. Colby V Marty will be interesting, their wresting may cancel each other out and turn it into a striking match, i'm not a Colby fan but he may have the edge in a close fight.
Yeah Lawler looked awesome before the fight with Covington and he even in his post fight interview that it was the best and fittest he'd felt in a long time but he's just slowed down and been in to many wars over a long period including having 3 fights of the year in a row against Hendrick,Macdonald and Condit. I think the Condit fight especially took years off both guys who have never been the same since.
I really feel sorry for Condit because he won that Lawler fight, everyone knows it and since then he's just looked like a finished fighter. It must be tough getting robbed of gold like that and being sent to the back of the cue. The same thing happened to Wonderboy in the 2nd Woodley fight. Worse still Wonderboy then gets robbed AGAIN in the Till fight.
Lawler can’t punch because he’s on to many Peds and does the stupidest workouts. I cracked up when Colby said lawler was the most dangerous striker in the division. If lawler wanted to win that fight he shoulda worked on punching and timing. Not all that strength training bs. Only way for lawler to win was to time him on the way in or hit him in the clinch. I thought it was funny when Cruz was saying lawler needs to let his hand go.
