He doesn’t lift so do not expect him to understand that. Weed would literally inhibit protein synthesis and spike cortisol so it would actually harm recovery after a heavy squat session.

im an ex master international powerlifter and smoking weed is detrimental. Theres no freakin way id suck a few bongs then stick my head under a heavy bar,thats a recipie for getting hurt. I can only hypothesize what it would do to a guy ready to fight a 10 rounder. Hed get his face punched in.

I would have you believe he's refused to clear the matter up as the mug tagging me in this post is well aware.

Whyte is spouting off about the VADA testing but refuses to talk about UKAD and he can't understand why people find that suspicious.

 

Well there seems to be some conflicting information, as other athletes can attest to the performance enhancing benefits of weed.

So who do we believe? Maybe it depends on the sport type? Jack3d might help with weight lifting, but can kill people running marathons.

Nobody is saying you can't be suspicious, that is your god given right.

No one has told you to not be suspicious, but that doesn't give you the right to accuse Whyte before all the information is out.

You don't hand out the verdicts, and you weren't there at the hearing, or involved. So reserve your judgement, but keep your suspicions.

 

I'm not really interested in whether or not marijuana is performance enhancing, nor should something which is performance enhancing necessarily be banned (beetroot juice? proper hydration?). My point is just that it's not our place to mitigate certain athletes over others when both pop dirty, just because we think certain banned substances are less harmful/beneficial than others. Lots of people that supported Povetkin were arguing over whether the trace amount of previously-legal meldonium he had in his system was truly a bad thing, and were vilified by many other forum members, yet many of those that went in on Pov gave Arreola and others a pass for taking weed. It too easily descends into a game of favouritism with bro science and 'common sense' used to back up one's stance.

I'm quite cynical about the prevalence of drug use in boxing (I think most are on something) but I'm also not prepared to give anyone a pass that's stupid enough to get caught, regardless of what they got caught for. I think that's fair, and it avoids a lot of pointless toing and froing in my experience.

Wilder was offered a Whyte fight a few years ago by Eddie, who said when he offered it would help build for an AJ=Wilder fight in the UK. Wilder said, ‘OK, I’ll take it if you guarantee a fight with AJ if I win.’ Eddie’s response, in direct quotation, was ‘Oh, no, it doesn’t work that way.’ So Wilder declined.
