Fair play man, but you have to ask yourself if Fury was Hughie's height or shorter... he would not be as succesful. Oscar Rivas would be the perfect Acid test then for Usyk to prove himself. Usyk ain't young, so he can't spend too much time adjusting to HW. But he and his fans seem keen on debuting against a solid contender. If Usyk fought the same Rivas Whyte fought, and won convicingly... he has my full respect and confidence on his ability as a HW contender in 2019.
Personally I think Fury is far beyond fighting the likes of Rivas (no disrespect as he's a good fighter in his own right). I only really want to see him fighting Joshua/Wilder/Whyte/Usyk/Ruiz at the moment. EDIT - sorry misread, yes Usyk vs Rivas would be a very interesting matchup. Better than a Takam fight in my opinion. I think Fury is much better all round than his cousin, personally, so difficult to measure how he'd get on if he was shorter. He'd probably be even quicker and more agile. I like Usyk's attitude - he's said he wants Fury, Wilder AND Joshua in the next year. Unrealistic perhaps, but this isn't someone who wants too many warm up fights.
I reckon Fury struggles with pressure fighters, or fighters when they apply excess pressure. So, the better they are at it, the more he struggles. If memory serves me correct he struggled in the first Chisora fight. By most people’s accounts he lost to McDermott. Cunningham floored him. There are other examples. I don’t think this is a secret though, as his trainer recently revealed, when he talked about picking a fighter for Fury. He used the words “tall”, but I sensed what he meant was that they didn’t want a short bulldog in there.
That's right - if I remember correctly, they were offered Rivas before Schwartz but Davison was reluctant because he was worried Fury wouldn't look very good against a shorter fighter.
Fury has three big weaknesses. 1) Pies. 2) Lager. 3) Motivation. If he had an obsession with boxing he'd be terrifying. Instead he's been coasting along on his youth and athleticism and abusing his body with all sorts of crap. I like his latest dedication to training but I question for how long he can keep it up. He needs to get big fights before he starts slowing down.

Hes fought Klitchsko and Wilder (beat them both tbf), boxed the ears off Chisora also.. With them 3 alone he has the best resume of any active heavyweight
This. If he can keep making a fortune fighting stay busy fights until he gets a re-match with Wilder or the winner of Joshua-Ruiz 2 I can’t blame him for making good money with little risk. Also, Fury did mention that he didn’t take the immediate re-match with Wilder because he was disappointed with the sales and wanted to wait until there was more demand for a rematch.
I think if joe Parker fought this dude and the other guy fury just beat people would be ok with it. It’s just that fury is held to a higher standard so people are not pleased
