What law are you referring to? They have to actually go to court before they settle out of it if a fighter withdraws from negotiations or pulls out of a fight. That never happens. Even if they agreed through signed contract , promoters have endless stipulations included in a contract to cover their backs. By your argument Dervy is within in rights to sue Canelo for not honoring his mandatory as Canelo surely would have agreed to face mandatory challengers when he became the IBF champ. Dervy obviously has no case to bring against Canelo. If he did , he would.
These are legal/ promoter aspects of the sport that you and i ultimately have no clue about anyway so its pointless even discussing it.
There's not even any evidence that GGG is layering up apart from "twitter sources"

Contract law in the US. The application doesn;'t matter, whether it is boxing, retail, consultancy, etc.

That is a fair point, we don't know what stipulations they put in. Rumour has it they didn't put enough, but who knows.

This is different though. Getting the IBF belt or any other belt does not require a legal contract to be signed to face the mandatory. You simply agree you will face the mandatory or forfeit the right to hold the belt, one or the other.

Ah **** off with that BS.
You honestly don't think Lara, Trout, Mayweather, Cotto and Golovkin weren't challenges?
And who did he drain, Jacobs? Jacobs in his last fight had to follow the exact weight procedures.

He drained Jacobs too. Jacobs didn't want any rehydration clause, the IBF waived it but Canelo insisted to put it in :deal:

Canelo knows that GGG now knows that he only wins with a KO or brutal beating of Cabelo (he should have known that after the first meeting). Whether or not GGG has it in him is debatable but Canelo knows that GGG will be coming out from the opening bell looking for the stoppage. The ensuing war will definitely take some years off of Canelo's career win or lose.

I believe the Ali Act prevents DAZN, Golden Boy, or any promoter or network from signing a contract for a fight. The fighter and his manager are the only ones who can sign a contract to fight. The only way GGG-Canelo 3 can happen is if GGG and Canelo and their managers have signed or do sign a contract. That was one of the reasons the Ali Act came to be, so promoters and networks have no leverage in forcing fights to be made. Neither DAZN or Oscar/Golden Boy can make Canelo fight anyone or negotiate a fight without him. Golden Boy is not Canelo’s manager.

Jacobs agreed to the hydration clause and decided on not participating and paying the fine instead. Know your facts.

Agreed. And therein lies the problem, Canelo never agreed on the third fight and DAZN can't force it through as much as they'd like to ...

Who says Canelo is scared? That’s so ******ed. He walked GG down in the rematch like a boss.

GG needs a smack upside the head for getting shown up by a smaller opponent.

Poor Lil g, well keandre Leatherwood has a clear schedule or rick Rolls triology will do decent numbers. Most ggg fans will pay to watch him fight a rodeo clown
