What does everyone think ? Will anyone take it over ? Clearly, they are only showing junk that they are picking up for free ? It's a pity, but is it dead ?
I just don't think there's enough boxing to justify a dedicated boxing channel, especially if you have it linked to one promoter. Imagine if it was still essentially a channel for Warren. How many shows is he doing? It's now August, so how many times are the following fighting this year? Yarde probably twice? Three at most. Warrington is now a twice a year fighter. Dubois will be able to headline around three or four cards a year.
The same applies to Sky with the solo promoter MisMatchroom Agreement - the boxthing fans have seen reduced cards full of garbage most weeks.
I did love boxnation, it showed some fantastic fights...I cancelled my subscription when Furys comeback fight wasn't shown and it was on BT. Was well and truly dying back then im surprised its still about...
Look at the show ratings thread. Matchroom are still providing the best British boxing shows this year.
BT Sports subscribers are far lower than Sky so that would be expected mate - we as fans see through the Matchroom pony. PPV results in boxthing remaining a minority sport with only a small percentage of the population viewing big fights. A dedicated boxing channel can only work long term if ALL UK boxthing was on it supplemented with the best of cards around the world. If promoters put politics and their own wallets aside, all involved with boxthing would be better off financially working together.
I’m not talking about the numbers. I’m talking about quality of shows. Matchroom shows have been better than Frank Warren shows.
