I did only say reasonable- not a great fight. I think it’s reasonable as the guy is ranked 4th (it’s a terrible top 15 which isn’t Warrington/franks fault) and as you say, he’s had a very tough last 3 fights. They tried to make Valdez who moved up and according to Frank they tried to get LSC over and also offered the fight to Quigg who wasn’t available, so in the face of all those circumstances, I’m giving them a pass to fight an easier guy and hopefully we get another big one early 2020.
I’d be worried about frank securing these fights for Josh , doesn’t sound like any of them were even close to happening. Could be another BJS case if they’re not careful.
He's too active to be a BJS case (I rate BJS highly btw). Maybe more of a Kell Brook but he deserves an easyish defence like this. Hopefully he unifies next year.
Nah, I don’t agree- it’s completely different circumstances. Warrington sells tickets and has headlined a PPV, unlike Saunders who doesn’t sell a ticket, is unreliable, inactive and wants big money. Plus Warrington has big fights fairly easily accessible through Frank - Conlan next summer, Frampton 2, I’m sure frank can do a deal with Arum for a unification with Stevenson next year etc.
Not everyone is Mayweather or Pac ....fighting champion after champion for years on end... Give the lad a decent fight before going to US.....Its hardly a bum fight
To be fair Valdez has moved up Santa Cruz allegedly rejected a good offer and Garry Russell has less fights a year than I have shags (and that ain't many)
Warrington said the Galahad fight could be his last in Leeds. Perhaps the hometown decision to keep his title has changed things.
Josh has had three stylistically very hard fights in a row so if anyone gets a "pass" for a weak opponent it's him. I will say though that it's poor that a unification fight hasn't materialised. That was Frank Warren's objective and the instruction issued by Josh and it hasn't materialised. If he doesn't get one next I'm sure they'll be giving Eddie a ring. @im sparticus do you know whether there is any discontent or even anger from the Warrington camp with Frank?
Would be pretty hard on them to be getting assy with Frank already. Assuming SS wins the WBO belt, that is a very easy unification to make?
The guy is ranked anywhere between 4th and outside the top 100 depending on which ranking system you use. I'm willing to accept Warrington has been on a tremendous run and not every fight can be a great one. But it's a very poor, some might even say Warren-ish, opponent.
