Who has plant beaten on the level of Lemieux? Or Lee? Or even Eubank? The comparisons between him and Saunders are pathetic. Saunders humiliates him, Smith Destroys him, Eubank Destroys him, GGG destroys him and so does Canelo.
Golovkin tells me he doesn't want to fight Andrande so why should I believe he could beat Plant whose bigger and better than Andrande
Golovkin wins going away. Hell, I'd still pick Uzcat to win a rematch vs. Plant. I've seen enough of Plant that I have never been impressed with him at all.
Because GGG would destroy Andrade. He wants the Canelo fight, not a paper champ who hasn't beaten anyone. So that rules out Plant as well
I think he's legit. I'm not sure exactly what his ceiling is at this point, but he's not there yet. Pure boxers who are borderline OCD about mastering the craft typically tend to do well in the long run. I'm still not 100% sold on his conditioning so a great pressure fighter may be his kryptonite, but he's good enough that an average one won't get the job done.
well from what ive seen plant is 10 years yonger (27) 6,1 with a 74inch reach GGG 37 5,10 with a 70 inch reach Plant would give golovkin a run for his money with his style of being elusive first the 6 rounds or so plant while not necessary a power puncher will have enough power to keep Golovkin honest the first 6 rounds would be competitive with plants movement and what not but golovvkin has got his best weapon for that problem his sniper jab he is a master with it while plant moving around landing shots here and there he also would have the speed advantage against ggg ggg himself will be able to catch plant while hes a moving target thus evevning the score cards for the first rounds to almost even after the 6th round however i can see plant slowing down and ggg pressing the action i know ggg has the power to stop plant but he dosent have the speed to catch him flush clean ggg by unanimous decision plants gotta fix that gas tank hes got so much potential
I can see if you don't think he's much on the world level, but overhyped would imply that a lot of people think all that highly of him. I don't think that's the case here. There weren't many of us picking him vs Uzcat and most fans figured he'd be slaughtered. If anything, he's underrated.
Plant is from my neck of the woods in Tennessee, so I’ve been a fan of his for a while now and follow him closely. I can tell you that conditioning has absolutely been his number one focus since the Uzcategui fight. Plant doesn’t come from money, so up until he won the title, he really couldn’t afford a full-time conditioning coach. His whole team was pretty bare-bones in general to be honest. Since winning the title, he has been working with some legit strength and conditioning guys full time. Plant also admitted that he may have experienced a little bit of an adrenaline dump in the Uzcategui fight, especially with it being his first world title fight (and I believe it was just his first or second time going 12 rounds). So I think his conditioning likely won’t be an issue going forward. He knows he has decent power but not enough to consistently rely on knockouts, so he’s training with the assumption every fight will go the 12 round distance. He’s also one of those guys who is in the gym training hard year round, not just in the few months leading up to a fight. With all that said, I’m not necessarily saying he beats Canelo or GGG. But I definitely think he’s got a decent shot against both guys. Canelo, in particular, has struggled with that slick, pure boxer style in the past.
