You are arguing with Ghul? This ****ing idiot thinks Bubi Scholz was one of the greatest middleweights in history. BUBI ****ING SCHOLZ!
Yeah, I've seen that. That's the point, Langford used jabs like any other boxer. That's why I'm asking whether you've seen the same footage as me. With small gloves it's far less effective though. Besides, Langford showed many variants of different guards in his fights. You called him a head first fighter, which is far from the truth. He's better and more versatile defensive fighter than many HWs after him - even than guys like Marciano for example.
Not true, just watch damn footage. They could grapple with old gloves, they were that small. Today you can't do anything with gloves other than punch. I will tell you later. Marciano has decent headmovement but his footwork is clearly worse and he's definitely not more nimble. Langford was far more versatile defensive fighter than Rocky.
LOL. Neither are remotely top ten middleweight fighters, not even top ten European middleweights. Scholz best work was at 175. Papp beat a bunch of washed up tomatoe cans before he was retired by the communists.
Against Lang, in incomplete 3 rounds we have Langford threw around 10 jabs. That's not bad for someone who "used jab 0-1 times in all footage".
Fair enough but also consider that reports about him indicate that some of those losses were due to not being able to train or eat as needed.
I really think this forum would be better off if everybody would just ignore Mr. Al-Ghul entirely in all the topics discussed on this forum and pretend he is not a member. Then, he wouldn't have anyone with whom to exchange answers, and the rest of us could go on with the serious business of intelligent discourse.
I think he is the standout poster here with unique opinions and his own singular logic.A one of a kind!
No, they weren't. Watch any of Jack Johnson fight, the gloves were basically the same as in late 19th century. Have you ever watched any Johnson, Langford, Dempsey and others fight? They all fought with smaller gloves, even in 1930s the gloves were smaller than today.
Well, Langford also had better footwork than Liston so it doesn't tell much in this comparison. Langford could cut off the ring like a master. BTW, you didn't respond to anything about Langford jabs, which are visible on footage. You'd know that but you didn't watch his fights in reality.
I said that I counted around 10 jabs from Langford against Lang in less than three rounds available. The post is there, so please don't tell me that I didn't do it when I did. There are even more jabs in Jeanette fight, but this one was the shortest and that's why I decided to use it.
