Of course he would hahahahahahahhahaah. He only fought one good guy that was a hw by today standarts and got brutaly koed. I am a sorry but i can not call guys like tucker or souvares as good. Man accept it boxing in the 50-90s was an american kindergarden championship without the Cubans, latinos and russkis in it. Its just a completely different game nowadays.
1. Because that's not how boxing works. He was Knocked down by Cooper and Frazier but much bigger punchers in Shavers, Foreman and Liston didn't have him down. 2. Ali beat 5 HWs who are better than the top 5 now... Whilst this is somewhat true Talent > Athleticism And it's not like Ali wasn't athletic. Wilder couldn't fight at the pace Ali did against Terrel for 15 rounds like Ali did. The sport is evolving in terms of training methods and safety precautions. In terms of techniques there are loads of tips from a while ago still being used. For example Inoue is using body shot techniques from Stanley Ketchel. Canelo and Mayweather have both used the Rope a Dope. Ezzard Charles's pull counters have been used loads since, Archie Moore's cross arm guard is a staple in the Mayweather family. Boxing is evolving, a bit. Just not enough for these fights outcomes to be changed by it.
Considering Ali was knocked down by guys who were light heavies, Wilder wouldn’t be lighter than this opponent for a change, Ali never fought anyone anywhere near that size, and Ali never fought anyone that athletic... I think Wilder would win 9 out of 10 times.
Why is this thread 6 pages long? Given that Wilder has been outboxed by pastry chefs, soccer hooligans and football players, surely it shouldn't have taken 6 pages to say "Ali wins"?
What surprises me is there are so called Boxing Fans who believe some of these very ordinary Heavyweights of this Era would destroy not only a Prime Ali but also a Prime Tyson.....think about that for a minute.!!!!
Agree. And you know me from Classic, I'm not shy to pick against past greats in the favour of modern pugilists. But in this case we have a very weak heavyweight era (half of whom are on PEDs anyway, the irony) and some are picking against the guy who is regarded as probably #1, certainly top 3, of all time? Exceptions can be made of course. I mean, even a very great fighter could lose to a lesser man if the stylistic matchup is unfavourable. In that case, I say watch the footage. And its very clear that Wilder is a one trick pony, relying on a great right hand to carry him through his bouts. He's been almost always made to look inept at some point even against his bottom-scraped opponents. He barely made it past geriatric Ortiz and fat-farm Fury. It's clear that anybody with a bit of skills has to be favoured over Wilder, nevermind a guy like Ali. And I'm not even an Ali fan.
I dont follow. Are you saying Ali couldnt knock Wilder out? And then question whether i watch Boxing? If he can retire Joe Frazer, if he can KO Bob Foster and George Foreman then YES i can imagine he knocks out a poorly skilled average chinned guy with no real defence like Wilder.
More importantly, the wind from all of Wilder's missed swings could become a major economic resource.
Man archie moore, ezzard charles go get a walking aid grand pa. You guys just live in the past. There is so much new stuff to boxing just look at crawford, loma and usyk. At the time ali was around there were no southpaws and now you have got effective switch hitters.
Too much? You do realise they do exist and they did so much they really can't be ignored. Especially when your talking Technique. Look at Willie Pep, he revolutionised how defensive fighters 1. Were perceived and 2. How they used there feet Guarantee I'm younger than you. Overrated. Both brilliant. Absolutely beautiful skills but so was Ali and Ezzard Charles.
