Everybody seems to have this false belief after the first fight that Ruiz is some monster and Joshua was absolutely destroyed and outclassed when THEY WERE ACTUALLY FIGHTING. The shot from Ruiz that caught Joshua perfectly on the back of the head was pretty much the punch that won him the fight. After that Joshua was completely gone and it took Ruiz all the way to round 7 to finish him. Had it been the other way round Ruiz wouldn’t make it out the round.

So before that shot landed and scrambled Joshua’s senses the fight was nothing more than a normal Joshua fight against a good opponent. Ruiz was getting timed several times while he was coming in by Joshua and in the third round got floored by a great combination. THIS IS WHERE IT WENT WRONG FOR JOSHUA. Joshua failed to realise that Ruiz wasn’t hurt to the point that he was ready to go and recklessly went in for the finish as he wanted to make a spectacular statement. So up to this point when both fighters were naturally fighting Joshua was superior but due to this pressure of making a statement went in like he normally wouldn’t, turned it into a 50/50 scrap and got caught. From this point onwards the destruction happened and made it look much worse than what it actually was as it became a sustained beating when Joshua pretty much didn’t have it left to win the fight.

RUIZ IS NOT A DEVESTATING POWER PUNCHER! If Joshua stuck to his normal way of fighting Ruiz doesn’t have that consistent game changing power to change the momentum of a fight with just one punch. It’s when Joshua gets reckless anything can happen. So stop thinking Ruiz is this monster and that Joshua is nothing because after that shot which scrambled Joshua’s senses he wasn’t himself anymore. His legs were completely gone. Before that he was doing completely fine and on the right track.

Anthony Joshua wins the rematch in convincing fashion.

No one is saying he is. You don't need to be to use Joshua as a yo-yo

The simple truth is the bodybuilder. Joshua had a full training camp. Came in perfect shape lifting those pink heavy dumbbells. And was still blown away by a short morbidly obese blob Ruiz, who was living off the McDonald's diet for 3 whole months! lol

I tend to agree with that, and think there's a good chance of the final statement happening, just hope like hell it doesn't.

Ruiz literally just had a fight and a camp before the AJ contest was made so he was already in fighting shape then had 5 more weeks for the Joshua fight while Joshua had a 9 month lay off. Not fought since September which was way too long. Ruiz was actually in a better position as he didn’t have any ring rust lol.

Not many seem people realise how that one punch changed the whole dynamic of the fight though? They claim it was a demolition job from start to finish.

The truth and nothing but the truth lol.. Honestly Ruiz surprised him as he was suppose to fall and not get back up fighting to make AJ look good for his US debut.. DAZN has a lot invested in AJ to become a star in the US and with Wilder destroying Breazeale just two weeks prior, AJ felt the pressure to perform in similar fashion.. Ruiz didn’t come to be a pushover and it was bad matchmaking on Matchrooms behalf

Nope it was a very winnable fight for Joshua. He definitely should have won it.

Freddie Roach said he's one of the hardest punchers he's ever worked with. Ruiz hits hard , and fast. Thats a deadly combo.

You definitely have amnesia or something, Ruiz was tagging Joshua up until the third round before he got knocked down.

Infact I feel Ruiz was gun-shy and that if he exploded anytime at that fight like he did in round 7, he would have ended it.

Round 7 when Joshua was pretty much gone haha get real he tried to stick it on Joshua in round 2 then got timed with a quick one two combination. The times he was successful Joshua dealt with it quite well. Only when he went for the kill and opened up he got f*cked.

The problem is Ruiz wasn't supposed to win. Once you get a guy who can take a shot and fight Joshua on the inside he has a great chance to win because AJ has no inside game and I don't believe he has good stamina or a good chin.

He didn't even really hurt Ruiz when he put him down because he doesn't get true leverage on his shots. If that was a leverage shot Ruiz would've probably been in serious trouble and stopped. The greats get leverage on inside shots like Tyson and outside shots from the outside like Curry did McCrory. Joshua only gets leverage on his shots when he has a guy hurt.
