Personally, I don’t rate Floyd high at 147 at all. Remember, he fought Carlos fornicating Baldomir to become the champ! Then he defended against Zab Judah and promptly retired from the sport, while guys like Margarito, Williams, and a less weathered Shane Mosley were there. He didn’t “unretire” until the coast was clear and then ducked Pac. Remember, even if Pac was on PEDs, Floyd still would’ve been taller, have a big reach advantage, been heavier, more skilled, just as fast, and even though 2years older, far more fresh and with less wear and tear. H2H at 147 Floyd doesn’t even break my top 15. However, in fairness to Floyd his prime was never at 147. At 130 he was a full on assassin and is absolutely no less than 50/50 with any other SFW in history, including Arguello. But...if you go back to the same-day-way-in era then presumably Floyd would’ve been fighting at lightweight and there’s monsters in the history of the division. So from 130 to 140, and throughout modern boxing history, Floyd at his best would be a legit fight for the other greats but nobody, but not even Floyd Sr or Jr would be talking GOAT, 50-0, or any of that other nonsense.
Lesser fighters than pbf weren't beaten to a pulp by duran. In fact lesser fighters than pbf beat duran. Could Duran beat pbf sure but beat him to a pulp is nothing more than wishful thinking he's too good defensively for that to happen.
Antonio Margarito wouldnt have won a round against pbf. Pbf is a stylistic nightmare for margo. A slow orthodox no defense no jab coming forward type guy would get lit up by pbf. Honestly you couldn't ask for a better match up for him.
That is actually a good point, Floyd's defense is exceptional and he has shown a great chin throughout his career. I still stand by Duran beating him, along with Hagler, Hearns and Leonard.
Pac couldnt even beat jmm clearly when he was prime stop. Pac cant deal with pbfs ability to control range and dictate distance. Pbf always gives him fits with this and always beats him because of this.
Fair post. Also when you add in the fact that duran was frustrated by movement and pbf holds a huge reach advantage and would use distance and movement this fight leans towards pbf imo.
OK You think that but obviously Floyd didn't. Just watch that video & you'll see Tony scared the **** out of him. Oscar too, he wanted the winner of Marg/Cotto till he saw what Tony did to Cotto & rapidly changed his mind. Tony would laugh at Floyds feather like punches as he just walked him down. As the great Brown Bomber said " He can run but he cannot hide" LOL
Pbf was past his best against maidana he was 37 when he fought him. He wasnt prime. A prime pbf who could stick and move for a full 12 rounds is the version of pbf I'm talking about not the maidana version. That version would put on a clinic against margo or maidana.
And you're doing what you do best hating and wishful thinking and not being able to refute my point about pbf controlling range and dictating distance on pac's ass. there's a reason why pac didnt want testing and ducked a prime pbf.
