How would prime Bob Fitzsimmons fare against these fighters:

    Tommy Ryan
    Charles Kid McCoy
    Stanley Ketchel
    Billy Papke
    Joe Goddard

    5 KOs

From body shots or head shots. Either way they all do down in the end.

Goddard is the only one I'd give any chance, and I'd very heavilly favour FItz.

There was talk of Ryan and McCoy against Fitzsimmons at the time, but a lot of people saw the challenges as pretty empty.

Ketchel has a chance if he lands a huge right, but I see Ryan being the hardest challenge for Fitz

    Fitz 5-0 sweep with difficulties

He has, but remember that Maher and Choynski also landed his best shots on Fitz and he still completely dominated them. Both were likely stronger hitters and they didn't go at Fitz. Fitz record against come forward fighters is very one sided.

You don't give Ryan any chances at MW?

Yeah but he still knocked him out in second round though and Sharkey was both more durable and bigger puncher than Ketchel.

He was too small, and could be hurt too much, I think he'd just get blown out.

More durable, I agree. Bigger puncher perhaps. I'd say they're about equal, though I know that's a bold take

The point is, you have to do way more than just find Fitz with your best punch. Bob as a smaller man tasted the best punches of Maher, Choynski, Ruhlin, Sharkey and Corbett but he got up and knock all of them out. Here he would face a smaller and weaker man.

Ketchel was durable but not as durable as fighters Fitz destroyed. He would have to outwork, outbox Fitz and avoid his heavy shots. Do you see him doing that?

It was before his second fight with Fitz.

He had taken a lot of damage in the fight with Jeffries, but had also improved a ton leading up to it. Between those fights he have severa fights, winning all, with an ok win over Choynski.
