Ali had had 57 fights with roughly 40 against ranked opponents. Had had absolute slug fests against Frazier 2*, Foreman, Norton 3* and Shavers.
He had also had brain damage going into the fight and was already under the effects of Parkinson's.
All of that and It was a questionable fight that a case for a draw can be made, and Ali schooled him in the rematch.
Right, perspective is wonderful isn't it. And what was Wilder's excuse for being dropped by Dustin Nichols?

And that additional weight and height is undoubtedly advantageous to any +200lbs heavyweight but still isn't going to make quite as big a difference as it would were these advantages in a middleweight fight.
There are countless examples of heavyweights with similar proportions to Ali overcoming heavier and rangier opponents and in this instance especially I believe the discrepancy in raw skill is far more significant when determining the outcome of this fight than Wilder's size advantage over Ali.

As for Fury vs Ali though I think this size issue becomes a much more significant factor as not only has Fury been able to capitalise on these advantages with more success than Wilder (IMO) but (and despite the fact they both have very different styles) he and Ali are also fairly evenly matched in terms of technical ability, resulting in what I think would be a very hard nights work for Ali and I could even see Fury winning. In fact I would probably put money on Fury.

Man get out of here, wlad had more fights then ali, got battered 4 times and he would have koed norton in 2 rounds max even age 40.
Even a draw would be pathetic and alis parkinson wasnt diagnosed until 1984 so that argument is stupid given the fight was in early 1978

He was scanned for brain damage after the shavers fight. He shouldn't have even be allowed to fight.
Wlad didn't take as much damage in his whole career than Ali did in his second career. Norton didn't have a good chin, hence being pummeled by every big puncher he went against. Ali had Virtually no power by the time of the Norton fights.
A draw would've been pathetic but Ali was shot. It's like me saying Artur Grigorian would beat a prime Pernell Whitaker because he lost to Carlos Bojorquez.

Yeah a lot of fighters get scanned after fights if they take too much punishment i fail to see the connection to the argument. A lot of todays boxers have direct brain damage after a hard fight we see that year for year. But most of them are still able to ko d-tier opposition.
Man i am sorry but that bojorquez argument is just simple not valid, borjorquez had 21 fights, fought for some small titles and was 4 inches taller and bigger then whitaker. Spinks was smaller had only 7 fight with absolut no title fight experience, absolute d tier journeyman and ali lost.

It's widely known that Shavers' bombs damaged Ali's brain. Ali himself in a interview declared Shavers hit him very very hard more than Foreman and Frazier. Since then he was not the same anymore even risking his life against Holmes.
The fact Norton didnt have a good chin is also true.

ALI would completely humiliate Wilder. Talking to him and taunting him as he made him miss his right hand punches. The windmills and the rights would be just that ....flailing at wind. Ali's quickness, slickness and reflexes would make Wilder give up in two rounds. Wilder would walk into combinations all night long and wonder where they came from. He would be thinking there was a third person in the ring that he could not see. Then, in whatever round Ali had predicted,,,,,a flurry would put china chinned Wilder ( Ming dynasty) on the mat for a long humiliating nap.

Utter crap!!! Guys in Alis era were banging for 15 rounds. Nowadays you have HWs that start running out of gas after 6 rounds.

I think "ertwin" gets his sports mixed up and is enamoured with muscle mass being the sole defining factor on who is going to win a fight. Heavyweights from the 70s were super fit. I watched Frazier last night and theres noone currently in the heavyweight division who puts so much energy into a fight.
