If he beats Kovalev by knockout, as I suspect he will, he could start to break through into the casual sports market if BT really start pushing him.

It's a long shot but if he spectacularly knocked out Kovalev it would propel him into the limelight for sure, not AJ levels but he'd get a lot more recognition and there'd be a big fight for him in the UK. Yarde has a style that has the potential to be a real pull for the casual audience, people love spectacular KO's, is how Mike Tyson made the sport so popular and it's how AJ has built his fanbase.

Did you also pick Khan to beat Canelo, and Crolla to beat Loma by any chance?

    I’ve came full circle twice.

I though Kov destroys him. Then I thought Yarde has got a chance here and Kov is finished. Now I’m back to square one. I think Kovalev is just going to toy with him while Yarde is swinging at thin air.

We know from previous fights against limited opponents that Yarde likes to fight at a pedestrian like pace. I don’t think i’m being disparaging saying that, he does prefer to take his time in dismantling his opponents before blasting them out. He doesn’t just go in there all guns blazing & reckless. So what happens when when he’s got a world class jab coming at him...we know that a fighter with a great jab can dictate the pace of a fight and stop his opponent from setting his feet and launching attacks. Ask yourselves if you can see Yarde having the experience, ring IQ and authority behind his own jab to negate Kovalev.

You have to also bear in mind that even though he’s supremely confident, it has got to be in the back of his mind that he’s never done more than 7 rounds in a fight. I think that’s significant. How do you know you can do the full 12, that’s always at the back of a fighters mind when they’ve never done the distance before. They can hold back for fear of not having enough gas in the tank for the later rounds. Kovalev has done 12 very recently when he boxed the head off Alvarez. He’s done the distance with Ward.

A lot of questions about Yarde will get answered in this fight. He may have fantastic natural attributes, but you can’t buy experience. Hope he does himself proud & learns tons from this.

Surprised at how tight the odds are. It's 1/2 for Kovalev and 13/8 for Yarde.

Money is pouring in on Yarde...

I will be having a cheeky bet on Yarde by KO - I’ll see what odds are on offer next week.

So what happened with a press conference for this? Not seen them face to face yet

Warren has been terrible promoting this one

I have no idea because Yarde has yet to face anyone remotely comparable to Kov. The fact they've been so careful with him and now chased this fight gives me some hope that they know something we don't. I hope so anyway as although the lions in the camp stuff is cringe, the lad himself seems like a nice fella and I would l e for him to win it the hard way there in Russia.

    No, why would I?

You cant compare Yarde potentially beating Kovalev to those fights.

Krusher has twice been brutally stopped in recent fights and is a 37 years old, hard vodka drinker- Yarde winning would not be a major upset I’m my opinion, not at this point anyway.

It’s not Franks promotion. There’s not a lot that he can do- BT will take care of the digital stuff.
Presumably there will be a press conference on Monday/Tuesday.

Alvarez caught him with a peach, and it was a quality stoppage. Ward just punched him in tezzers about 3 times, which would have put the Hulk down :)

I’ll tell you what’s impressed me though massively with Yarde, that he turned down an offer from Canelo who said he’d give him his full fight fee offer to step aside. Credit to him, that’s brilliant. He really believes he can win. Go on Yarde lad!!!
