I don't know about that. Mayweather's legacy is built upon being undefeated. There have been other undefeated fighters before, but Mayweather really put the attention on having an the 0. Guys like Marciano and Lopez retired undefeated, but it wasn't something they marketed and clang too and plus back then it was just more accepted to lose. It used to be that you weren't respected until you lost because that meant you hadn't fought tough competition.

What do Lopez, Marciano and Mayweather have in common? They are undefeated and were protected. They never fought an elite fighter in their prime.

Well first of all Mayweather is defeated really just not on corrupt scorecards
I know what you're trying to say but can't I turn that around and say Mayweather's record is weak precisely because he clung to his 0 so much?

Any novice undefeated boxer could use the same argument to say they were great but it doesn't make it so. The old argument you mention about earning no respect until you take a loss ( or just don't cherry pick) is true.

Why would losses have gained him respect?
Floyd showed massive bravery in going up in weights and often facing the top man at the weight
Often when Floyd fought an opponent they were coming off a good win.
    So Floyd was a sfw
He beats the #1 in Hernandez
He beats manfredy who some rated as the next top sfw and before moving up beats corrales who some felt had claim as the top man
Now at the time some felt it was too soon for him to face Hernandez, some picked for Manfredy and corrales.
Floyd then goes up in weight and beats the top lw, then rematches him and wins again.
He also beat top lightweight ndou.
At ww he beats the top ww in baldomir and Judah who was then a top ww
When he fought de la Hoya, Oscar was coming off a good win
Cotto was coming off a good win
Mosely was coming off a good win
Maidana and Ortiz were coming off good wins

You list is ****. Just to name a few Monzon Laguna Dick Tiger Tyson are no where near as great. Many other fighters on that list as well aren't close. PBF isn't the GOAT only a fool would make that statement. He is however the best of the era and H2H terror to face.

He beat some very good fighters but never left his comfort zone and waited years for pacquaio to decline.
And I'm not saying he's garbage , but Pacquiao is the best fighter of his era
He didn't need to be looked after by the establishment most of his career either

Hearns would have destroyed Mayweather (and Pacquiao).

    Undoubtedly
Mayweather Would lose against all the great lightweights and welterweights of the past 50 years, the only division he'd have a chance in would have been the weaker super featherweight, depending on the timeline.

What proof do u have that Mayweather waited? Or are u just quoting what u heard other people assume? Cause u are not speaking truth.

130 to 140, mayweather beats majority of those greats. 147 u can say he would possibly lose to some of those greats, but not all. 130 to 140, Mayweather was better offensively to beat those greats.

Mayweather was caught red handed with his Illegal excessive 750 ml IV in his own home. It broke the NSAC 's own rules BUT Good old Bob & the NSAC make themselves look corrupt as heck by issuing that retroactive TUE THREE WEEKS after for a man who's only realistic need for 750 ml of saline is TO MASK Peds use. To claim dehydration is utterly ludicrous.
In my book Mayweather should have been banned & the fight declared a N/C PLUS the FBI should be investigating Bennett & the NSAC 's actions as well As for Fighter of the ERA that is
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!SENATOR EMMANUEL DAPIDRAN PACQUAIO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! & IT AINT EVEN CLOSE
