Does Sugar Ray Robinson's Boxing Style Look Primitive to You?

I'm saying that sugar ray robinson, this one in the video, would never win to cotto. Yes.

And I specify "this one" in the video, because robinson evolved too. I'm more or less "cheating", because this video is welter if I'm not wrong. Theoretically "his prime". But actually his most brute boxing. He is a much more fine boxer later on (in my opinion, but not in everybody's opinion).

But I could put you all here robinson fighting with 14 years old like a troglodyte, and you all would say "omg, look at that, he's good, he would have definitely beaten ray leonard." I'm completely sure of that.

SRR would knock Spence out. Spence wouldn't know what hit him. Not taking anything from Spence but SRR was just cut from a different cloth. He is just a harder man than Spence.

 

Very impressed with SRR accuracy and speed . His style was that a good offense is the best defense and liked to wing his punches but did throw some straight punches to finish off a hurt opponent . The video doesn't show the jab being important . Boxing has evolved over the years so very likely SRR would be a Champion today if he was born in say 1988 and had the benefit of good training . Not sure who would win between SRR and Mayweather though in a mythical match-up of prime vs prime .

SRR could throw flurries that way for one reason and one reason only, because he's arguably the GOAT. He had the footwork, the speed, and the IQ to get away with a lot of things 99% of fighters wouldn't.

Ever heard of RJJ, not a very text book fighter either, but hella talented and skilled in his own right.

You know who ended up in the Hospital? Cotto, when he fought Margarito who truly has a baisc and primitive style that consists of no defence.

Fighters today gas by round 9, and can barely stand by round 12. You think SRR would have a hard time with them who could go 15 strong? Lol

The talent pool now is lacking, its evident. There are far fewer ATGs today. Pacquiao is one of them today, outside of him no one else.

 

I remember little Chop Chop Corley, putting hands on Cotto and making him resort to repeated low blows to get the win. So yeah, if Corley was doing that to Cotto. What would a 5'11 guy with hand speed, reach and power do to Cotto?
