Shameless from Hearns this fight should be 50/50 at BEST for Joshua and should be taking place in LA or Mexico Ruiz should have said that's the terms or no fight. He the a side not the bodybuilder
He signed the rematch clause in the first fight which stipulated the conditions of the rematch. This is standard protocol. Of all the things to go after Hearn for this isn't one of them.
Whether you don't believe Hearn or Matchroom is up to you (I understand why you wouldn't), but a rematch clause in a world title fight is pretty standard practice. Let's just shift the focus to how Saudi Arabia is a slap in the face to boxing fans and how hosting the biggest boxing fight currently in Saudi Arabia will likely cause others to follow
I'm guessing your new to boxing if you having to ask this question. A rematch clause in a contract is quite common in world title fights in the event of the champion losing. Ruiz is getting what he agreed to, nothing more or less. Remember Joshua is the name still and if Ruiz loses the rematch he will go back to fighting in small arena's, if he wins the rematch he will be huge and then his real paydays will start. Mexico was never going to be an option, he may be popular but there is more money to be made elsewhere. Why do you think Canelo hasnt fought in Mexico for 8 years?
Ruiz has just received bills for his newly purchased estate. And he immediately realized that the money he would earn in the rematch would disappear quickly so he needs more.
Pretty sure that even if he wins again, there won't be much $40+ paydays for him around. Maybe along the line, but at the moment he's not much of a cash cow. Joshua probably still is. He signed the contract and the rematch clause. Pretty sure not being able to ask for an insane purse if such a rematch takes place would be covered, otherwise everyone pulling a major upset would either price themselves at the absolute limit or even out to either cash out or avoid the rematch entirely.
If you think Ruiz is getting swindled financially, the real people to look at would be Ruiz's advisors. Ultimately they must have advised him to sign the contract with the financial stipulations for a potential rematch.
