Nice fight, I'd probably give Schmeling edge here. Late rounds stoppage, his right hand would finally start to land after rough beginning of the fight. Schmeling is just much more proven than Corbett and Corbett didn't have the power to stop him.
I'll give Schmeling the edge, but it won't be easy for him. I think Corbett was a good deal better than Young Stribling
Corbett's speedy, awkward, dancing, heavily feint-oriented style is likely a bad matchup for Schmeling's plodding footwork, who preferred to fight people who fought more orthodox styles. I don't think Schmeling will get many opportunities to actually counter Corbett and would mainly be left guessing for the fights duration
Choynski and McCoy could’ve probably given Max a decent run for his money, but yeah I’d favour Max over Jim’s resume comfortably. Still wouldn’t change how I feel about the style matchup in itself though, I think Corbett’s style is just too weird and bewildering for someone like Schmeling.
I really don’t know much about Corbett. But based on resume I think Schmeling had a fuller and more accomplished career so I’ll favor him
