I like him, think he has done great for boxing and help build it up in the UK again.

He has his faults (saturday fight night cards, Some PPV undercards) and I can understand why he does annoy some people, I will never understand why people have a go at him for making fights like Campbell v Loma or giving his fighters opportunity.

Yesterday though I watched his IFL TV interview and his BS about Saudi was beyond a joke, trying to claim it wasn't about money..on about being a brilliant experience for the fans..yet the arena will only hold 12k and fans cannot drink.

Kept going on about David Guetta & Wrestling , how this experience would blow everything else out the water.

Sorry for me watching 80k people buzzing for the fight in Cardiff at Christmas time with the big questions over Joshua would be a better experience.

Why is he full of BS about this?

He’s a salesman. He pushes the product he’s selling, we all know they’ve chosen Saudi for the money, Hearn knows that we know, there’s no point him telling us what we already know & calling it a day...it’s his job to sell it.

I’m not trying to justify the Saudi thing...

However Cardiff is shite. For an arena of that size it doesn’t have the infrastructure to host an event of that size. I’ve been before for Joshua fight and football and there’s a severe lack of hotels, restaurants and even bars. It’s chaos when an event on. It’s a shame Wembley doesn’t have a roof.

The outrage of not being able to drink is so funny. The idea that you can't go and watch a boxing fight without relying on alcohol is hilarious.

Fair enough mate, I have never been to Cardiff.

But a fight this size IMO shouldn't go to Saudi.

As Bunce mentioned on his podcast (the dirty old sod) those feeling the need to drink can make there way overland from Bahrain. You will not be thirsty or short of company in any of the hotels there that cater especially for Saudi weekenders.

Hearn always goes on about the party atmosphere and its not just a boxing event its a night out for people to get dressed up etc..

    maybe thats why?

You mean the thing that has been a staple of all white European culture for centuries dating back to the Tudors, Romans, Viking, basically since existence? Just because a few make-believe characters with no substance for existence say it's banned

The biggest, most prestigious fight in the sport being held in Saudi is inexplicable. Money trumps all and boxing is no different...

Exactly. The point is that they're ordering you not to drink. It's not a choice.

Do they allow alcohol based hand sanitizers?

It's a fairly legitimate concern for people though. It's part of spectator sport culture.

Well, it was well publicised that Ruiz didn't want to come to the UK. As for the US, it probably would have made more sense, but it is what it is. The Arab states want prestige and they're willing to pay for it. Rumours are they've stumped up £40m as a site fee. That's before PPV sales. Nowhere can compete with that, not even Vegas.
