I think the fight being in Saudi Arabia is a logical result to recent events. They're not keen on giving him home advantage again, so no US or Mexico. The UK has gotten a very bad name, so not likely team Ruiz would agree to that one either... So Saudi Arabia, money
I dunno what to believe at all. Eddie's on Youtube saying Andy has signed and it's definitely happening yet today Andy's trainer is saying it's not decided at their end?
This is it in a nutshell. I don't care about it being in Saudi Arabia. I just want to see the fight. I just can't listen to the Hearn spin but I don't have to so who cares. Now; "lets get it on!!!!!!"
When Eddie says he’s signed he means the original contract so yes, technically Andy Ruiz has signed for the fight but he also hasn’t if you know what I mean. I think Eddie will end up chucking more money at Ruiz and everything will be fine, it’s all bargaining at this stage.
Saudi culture has its cons (obviously) but it also has its pros. I don't understand this Brit mentality of "oi u wot m8 I can't Ave me pint of stella" There won't be any "rumbles" in the crowd either or dad's having to get their kids through crowds of hooligans outside the stadium as I have done leaving the football. We in the west like to think we are so much more civilized and advanced than the Arabs but having been at spurs arsenal I question that, bunch of missing links slinging bottles and bricks when there's kids about. As I say there's areas on saudi that have a long way to go but I don't criticize not having a binge drink culture like the uk.
It is what it is. I don't think Kinshasa was chosen for Ali-Foreman because of its transport links and state of the art facilities. Promoters by their nature are ruthless, avaricious powermongers. I can't really think of any successful promoters who could be described as "likeable". Any good they do in terms of entertaining fans is generally counter-balanced by the harm they do in achieving that. If we're expecting promoters to measure up to any ethical standard, we're probably going to end up very disappointed. Hearn has broken the fourth wall more than any promoter, whether by design to build his persona or by not being able to stop himself whenever the opportunity arises. It doesn't make him any more or less admirable than less engaging promoters. At the end of the day, it's a big event that will draw huge money, which is ultimately the bottom line for all concerned.
Haha, so true, along with public beheadings, floggings, appalling discrimination against women, homosexuals, free speech...but thank christ they don’t have a binge drinking culture lads I think a news story that typifies that country is the one where a woman was raped. When she went to the police she was jailed for having sex outside of marriage.
When you remove yourself from the wanting or needing to see the rematch, it's pretty shameful that the God of money trumps everything. Is there even a judicial procedure there? I liked it when Eddie said that they had offers from many countries and Saudi won. Of course it did. If the devil himself appeared before Eddie and offered Hell as the venue and Lucifer had the biggest bag of money then I'm sure Eddie would already be getting the heat proof cameras installed.
Eddie Hearns keeps saying British fight fans should be happy that the fight is in Saudi cause its "growing boxing" its like if Ryainair moved to Dubai and told all the employees they make unemployed "dont be upset we are GROWING the Air traffic industry!"
I find that if you talk to them very slowly, pronounce each syllable clearly and a bit louder than normal, that they do understand.
wonder if the dutch get into such a strop when they visit countries that ban weed. alcohol is banned in saudi, get over it dude! Its not a big deal and really shouldnt stop anyone going to watch the fight who was planning to go and watch the rematch live wherever it was being held.
Really? I much prefer Cardiff to Wembley. Being in the centre of the city etc I think the millennium is a cracking venue
