Why do you people think Eddie signed Saunders? He knows damn well there's big fights out there for him and that he can win them. Eddie is a lot of things but he's no fool. Saunders/Andrade is a big fight on DAZN Saunders/Golovkin is a big fight on Sky PPV Saunders/Canelo is a big fight on DAZN Saunders/Smith is a big fight on Sky PPV How many active British fighters have four fights that big? Not many, that's for sure. This is huge for Billy, matchroom and sky. DAZN will be pleased as well.
Hearn is a better promoter than Warren so should be able to build his profile a bit better. The issue is Saunders is an absolute ars*hole and as such will never be the sort of fan favourite type who shifts huge tickets. I reckon Hearn has bought him as an opponent who can be effectively marketed as the sort of guy people will pay to see hopefully get chinned.
He really does have it all there for him and he can finish his career having fought some true elite fighters. I still wonder about him being able to get his head truly right but I just hope he proves everyone wrong and shows that he can take boxing seriously.
I wonder if Saunders Snr still wants to have the straightener with Eddie? This union will likely to end badly - Saunders will more than likely fcuk up again, he can’t help himself.
Who cares if he's the A-side or not? Who cares what he earns or how many people buy tickets/PPV's to seem him, or what their reasons are for doing so? None of that really matters. What matters is there are four or more big fights to be made for Billy Joe Saunders and he is good enough to win most of them if not all. His time has not passed. He's a 29 year old man training better than ever.
It matters in terms of making the big fights for Saunders. That's why he's a difficult sell for the big names (he brings little financial incentive but is tricky enough to cause an upset.) Hearn has ultimately signed a guy who's been proven to not make much money. Hearns whole target is money. Hence why I think that will be the approach they take. Everyone wants to see a guy they love to hate.
BJS wanted to be long gone and retired by aged 30. Jimmy Tibbs showed him the door back in late 2016 because the bloke didn’t have the discipline to train hard anymore. He had 1 bout in 2016, 2 in 2017, 1 in 2018 and 1 in 2019 and none against anyone who would remotely suggest he wants to compete at elite level. Are you ignorant or stupid? Why do you think Hearn signed him? The fights will be made and you can stop worrying about boxers/promoters bank accounts and ticket sales.
The fight I want to see is BJS v Canelo. The rest can wait. Although seeing him smack CEJ in the chops again arouses me. Good signing for Matchroom. Bet Frank is miffed right now.
Does this really make it more likely we see Canelo or GGG fights? I know its DAZN but Hearn doesn't promote them. I think he will be in a similar boat as before.
