No, but he fought 2 guys ever worse than this before Wilder the first time and still should have got the w
Nope this is called cashing in or cashing out depending how you look at it. He’s done a deal with top rank to fight a couple of taxi drivers for big money. With the understanding it gets them at the table to screen the Wilder vs Fury fight. Plus if Fury wins they also have him fir the Ruiz/AJ fight. The ones that lose out are the fans who wait around whilst he fights in glorified exhibitions. Atleast fight people with a pulse.
Fury fans on this board seem to live in a fantasy world. Tyson Fury failed his PED test after the Klitschko fight. It was reported in June 2016 (I have no idea why the public was kept in the dark so long). If they tested his b-sample, and it came back positive, too, Fury was going to take a two-year ban. So he didn't fight it. And he didn't reapply for his boxing license, so it was never denied. Fury let everything lapse. Was stripped by the WBA and WBO. And he spent two years partying, eating, drinking, doing drugs ... and spending the $10 million he got for the Klitschko fight. Like the true con man he is, Fury made everyone forget he failed his drug test by pushing his mentally ill storyline, which was total bull. When he'd sat out his "unofficial" two year ban ... like clockwork, Fury got in shape, fought two tuneups and fought Wilder. And he was magically all better. He didn't overcome any mental illnesses. He didn't have a drug problem. Instead of taking the drug ban, he has no drug ban on his record. So now if he fails a second time, he'll be punished like it's his first offense. (Unlike Chisora, who is facing his second drug ban.) Fury spent a year getting ready for Wilder. He fought arguably the best fight of his life that night. You can watch the fight and see Fury wasn't 40 percent or 60 percent of anything. He fought his very best. You'd be hard pressed to fight any better performance in his career. Wilder, on the other hand, had one of the worst nights of his pro career. Wilder was also in the gym nearly a year, like Fury, but he didn't have a 100 pounds to lose. As a result, for Fury, Wilder came in the lightest of any fight in his pro career except for his pro debut. Wilder was ridiculously overtrained. That won't happen for the return. Fury isn't getting better than he was for their fist meeting. Fury isn't still losing weight. While people were laughing at Fury's ringwalk and ESPN was forcing him to recreate his singing an Aerosmith song to his wife (because ESPN didn't have the rights to the HBO footage after the Klitschko fight) ... what all the fans overlooked was Fury was heavier for Schwarz than he was for Wilder OR Pianeta. After the holidays, Fury will probably be in the high 260s or maybe even 270 for the Wilder rematch. And Wilder will come into the ring in the high 220s - instead of barely over 200. And even though Wilder had a terrible night the first go-around and Fury fought a near perfect fight, Wilder still had Fury down TWO times. A stronger, fitter Wilder knows he can flatten Fury. He'll come out for the rematch much faster and Fury - not as prepared as he was for fight one - will get wasted by Wilder in the first couple rounds. It'll be a blowout. Wilder by early KO. And the people who said Fury was only 40 percent last time or 60 percent, will have to accept the fact that SEVEN fights into his comeback, Fury will be obliterated by Wilder. And the storyline they'd been pedaling for two years - Fury was sick, Fury recovered, Fury wasn't himself for the first Wilder fight and Fury will be his best for the return - didn't match what was actually going on AT ALL.
I don't think this will prepare him. As skilled as Fury is, his defence against Wilder was at time poor by his standards. He backed up in straight lines quite often and sometimes let his guard down when his feet weren't ready to move (like in the 2nd knock down). He needs to fight a semi-decent pressure fighter to iron out these issues and test his defence - the German pudding and Swedish meatball won't test diddly squat. As has been pointed out before if fury isn't going to plant his feet and go for a ko against Wilder (who he could hit at will in the first fight) he will need to be defensively near flawless to be sure of a win.
They keep him active and in camp, which are important. Fury had 4 fights in 12 months. And now he is facing just a 3 month turnaround. Meanwhile Wilder keeps taking long breaks between his fights. Even if Fury is beating complete bums, he is moving forward with his career. A lot better than to just wait for Wilder.
Err.... so has Whyte had 4 fights in 12 months...?? On top of that he fought WAY better opposition, on top of that... he ain't getting NO free shot at Wilder.... on top of that... he is getting paid less than Fury... on top of that... he is in an uphill battle against the WBC to get mando shots, have them suspended, fight eliminators... Give me a break, why do you love Fury so much... I don't see the hype... he ain't doing anything special
This reads like the ramblings of a crazed school girl. Haven't you got about 700 threads already dedicated to Dillian?
The **** you talking about? The OP asked if it was a smart idea for Fury to fight these bums. I said that at least it's keeping Fury active, which is good. Why the **** did you drag Whyte into this? (well we all know why) And no, i don't love Fury. I actually don´t like him at all. Some days I even despise him. (I do enjoy some of his fights tho) Whyte was extremely active in 2016 and 17. And it did wonders for his career. Since then he has slowed down a bit, but stepped up in class and improved as a fighter.
I wasn't even talking about Whyte. And neither was the OP. But Aydamn has a tendency to do this. He will just randomly inject Whyte into any topic. Usually in the victim role as well.
Yeh obviously you are going to slow down, you can't fight 4 or 5 top ten guys every year, that would be insane, but fighting them three times a year that is pretty damn good. We need to be giving people like that our full support and encouragement, and credit. Fury is doing himself no favours whatsoever, you don't become good by fighting crappy people. That goes for any sport, and any activity in life.
Badbot: "Something vaguely in support of Fury" Aydamn: "You're an obsessed fanboi!" Psychotherapist: "I'll make some more notes"
