Spence would start dictating with his jab then after a few rounds start walking the smaller Pac down busting him up with body shots to slow him down then stops Pac after 8 rounds.
I'm not sure Spence stops him, but I think he can and likely does outwork Pacman. Again though, I would not in the least bit be surprised if Pacquiao somehow turns back the clock and beats Spence on points. I think it mainly comes down to how Spence reacts when Pac hits him, does he shell up and switch his approach as most do? On paper Spence's come forward style suit Manny, but the guy is 40 and Spence is huge at the weight, which likely play a major factor. SD Spence.
Thurman was more dangerous and much bigger against Pacman than 2 weight smaller in Mikey against Spence. Yet Pacman destroyed Thurman's face and ribs. That's my logic By then end of the fight, Spence's eyes will be both CLOSED for good !
Wishful thinking Spence isn't Thurman he's much more complete and can fight at more ranges with a devastating body attack. Pac will start strong but by the 6th round he will have slowed down and be a sitting duck for Spence.
This is my thinking too. The only caveat here for me is how Spence reacts to Pacquiao's power and this will be evident from the first couple of rounds. If he eats a straight left and start trying to fight smart or cautious, then all bets are off lol. I've not seen Spence get hurt yet, but again I dont think I've watched him against anyone with power who can deliver it consistently and with enough frequency.
Spence couldn't do jack with a lightweight that stood there like a statue with a high guard and barely threw punches. Spence threw over 1,100 punches and never had Mikey hurt or in bad shape. I promise you this — Crawford or Pac would have KO'd Mikey that night.
People don’t realize that Spence was so superior to Mikey that Mikey stopped trying to win and got into survival mode. Mikey is a tough clever fighter so even though he took a beating it’s difficult to stop a fighter like him when he becomes hell bent on survival. What is particularly telling in that fight is both his trainers brother Robert and father Eduardo wanted to stop the fight in the last quarter so dominated had he been by Spence. In many ways it was better than a stoppage.
Do you realize that Spence dominated Mikey? How many rounds in that fight that did Mikey win? It was easy work for Spence he impressed me in that fight because I always assumed he was more one dimensional but instead he outboxed the boxer. Go ahead Paranoid call down the devil and beg for the Spence fight when it happens and Pac takes a career ending beating you will be singing a different tune. Spence is not Thurman.
Throwing and landing cleanly are two different things though and Spence never really got to land frequently clean hurtful shots against a guy who was in survival mode. Put the shoe on the other foot, how many times has Pac faced guys he was looking to and indeed expected to knock on, only to go on to outpoint them because they got hit and didn't want any of that smoke?
Most guys run for survival after they feel Pac's left hand. But Pac ALWAYS hurts or drops them. Since Mikey wouldn't have had 15-20 pounds on Pac, yeah, he would have gotten stopped.
Broner ran for survival. Literally ran. If Broner had just stood there for 12 rounds like Mikey did, he would have gotten stopped.
Bottom line is, both guys were in survival but did it differently. Mikey doesnt need to run to avoid taking as much damage as he's a much better boxer, but his offense was practically zero. Had Mikey used some offense, he'd have likely been stopped, rather than whitewashed on the cards.
