Dumb. Joshua gave him the shot, he signed a rematch clause, so do it.

If I was Joshua's team, this is a get out clause. Sue the heck out of him, fight other fights. Joshua doesn't need Ruiz, he can beat other guys and re-establish himself. Ruiz could be frozen out whilst waiting for lawsuit to settle. Or he could fight Fury/Wilder, lose to them and then he's a nobody.

If he rematches Joshua and beats him, the world is his.

    Must not be too confident.

Annoying dude. He doesn't realize he only got the fight because he agreed to the terms. Now wants to say no. Annoying guy all around, his stupid smile and voice included. I really hope AJ smashes him.

Fat idiot is going to get sued, the belts will go vacant, Joshua will win them back, and he'll become another one of those has-beens who thought he was smarter than his own intelligence level and ended up talking himself out of tens of millions of dollars.

There is no $84m. Even Hearn said it was closer to $40m. That money also has to be split between all the fighters on the undercard too.

Hosting the fight in Saudi represents to breaking NEW GROUND and opening a brand new MARKET for boxing. The Saudis are flush with cash, they want to THROW money at global events and we have this fat tubby idiot with an 8th grade education trying to think he is smarter than everyone else out there.

The WBSS was there last year, so it's not 'new ground' is it? You say the Saudi's are 'flush with cash' and then talk the proposed purse down from the oft-quoted $84m to less than half of that. In support of this you quote a promoter but blame a boxer - not his promoter - for the problems getting the deal over the line. What is it, a sporting or business stumbling block? Your whole post is confused.

And yeah, he might be 'tubby'; just means the belts stay in place better...

So they will import someone and put on a PPV like they did with Whyte-Parker, Golovkin-Brook, Linares-Crolla(I think that was PPV).
Or they will just sit it out. Who knows?

But to say that they are entirely dependent on Joshua, who fights twice a year, is ridiculous.

Eddie has two choices. Put the fight in America with all the belts on the line. Take Ruiz to court, delay the fight, belts get stripped, AJ shelved (unless he wants to risk AJ losing for way less money).

    Which option is better?

Joshua has a voluntary defence in the US to futher build his brand.
Original US opponent pops dirty for swallowing an entire pharmacy.
Joshua searches for a new opponent, nobody wants to fight.
Eventually he finds Ruiz Jr, who signs the contact, but is seen as a no hoper against Joshua.
Fight takes place, things seem to unfold like expected when things suddenly turn around.
Ruiz Jr wins and is now the first legit Mexican American HW champion.
Rematch clause is in effect, so we should get Joshua vs Ruiz II as the contract stated.
Ruiz Jr doesn't want to fight in the UK (can't blame him) but now doesn't want to fight on neutral ground either.

...Most likely outcome if Ruiz Jr and his team keep that up is that the rematch won't happen they're going to get sued blind.

For us boxfans the option to fight in the US is far better.

For Eddie/Joshi the option to sue is the way to go though.
    1) It's an almost certain win, as Ruiz Jr signed a contract for a once in a lifetime deal, and now breaches the stipulations after an unexpected victory.
    2) They can sue for loss of income, as Joshua would/could have made a shirtload of money in that timeframe.
    3) If they cave in they will be in the exact same situation next time something like this happens. Sharks/blood/water.

I mean yeah, it would likely end up in court and that could take months, even more than a year but does AJ want to be inactive all that time? How can he enforce an immediate rematch clause if he boxes again before the verdict? Wouldn't he have waived the right to one by signing to fight someone else?

    Agreed with first sentence.

    1) Not guaranteed by any stretch.
    2) Possibly but so could Ruiz
    3) Same goes for Ruiz and Haymon

This is a clash of the titans. Hearn vs Haymon. It's been coming for a long time.

But there already was a contract.
    Ruiz Jr signed that.
    Including the stipulations.

Why do you think rematch clauses are in such contracts other then trying to prevent situations like this to happen?

Yeah, here's the thing. I'm not going over this ad nauseum. You or I don't know, accept it.
