Eddie has two choices. Put the fight in America with all the belts on the line. Take Ruiz to court, delay the fight, belts get stripped, AJ shelved (unless he wants to risk AJ losing for way less money). Which option is better?
Let’s look at it another way, we can see Ruiz giving it the big un but is he really honestly going to be saying all this stuff independent of Al Haymon? Al Haymon is the puppet master here otherwise he would be telling his fighter to pipe down.
Ruiz seems to have an awful lot of say in the matter considering he was meant to be doing what he was told. First off he rules out the UK, then he rules out SA lmfao.
If you're a seasoned promoter who wants to stop an upstart (in this instance; Hearn) from invading onto your patch.. this is playing out exactly how you'd want it. Be awkward with initial negotiations, let the rival promoter go to the trouble of picking and arranging an alternative venue.. then delay and frustrate that decision too causing them reputational damage and potential financial loss. I don't think this is anywhere near a done deal yet.
Hear that? Oh yes it's the sound of construction screeching to a halt in the Arabian sun. When Saudi falls through, Peddie Hearns is going to be a laughing stock.
I keep hearing about this contract that gives Ruiz no say but every time he says something Hearn moves. This has got to be the worst contract ever written.
Exactly...Al isn't coming out and making these statements himself because we all know, al doesn't do interviews, he prefers to stay as undercover and out of way as possible.
