I love America, I love cheesecake and cheeseburgers. **** boi

And Golovkin once he retires, people will start missing him and talking about him for decades to come, thus enhancing his legacy as an indestructible monster that only lost due to corruption.

Also: SRL, Duran, Armstrong, Greb, Mayweather, etc. These fighters will always be above the rest in any era.

I am not totally dismissing your point that the world has caught up - but what you don't seem to understand is that in the 1920's for example the most popular sports in America were boxing and baseball. With the advent of network television in the 1950s and 1960s, boxing, baseball, and even professional wrestling were huge things to watch with Americans first experiences with television. Other sports like NBA and NFL were gaining some popularity, but were not where they are today.

Up through about the 1970s, and even into the 1980s and 90s boxing was still much more of a mainstream sport and was still broadcast on national network television. However the NFL, NBA, and other sports started to cut into the popularity of boxing. During this time frame, boxing was still popular enough but was starting to diminish in popularity. And the people that grew up in this time frame, most of them have children now that may be entering the sport. Those children, are less likely to get into boxing if Pops is not into it.

After the 90s era, and the "PPV" boxing model - coupled with even MORE interest in other sports (that don't require your son to get possibly die as a combatant) the amount of people entering the sport is decreasing percentage wise. Also - a lot of would be boxers are actually going to MMA now, whereas in the past they would have been boxers.

I know this through historical curiosity when it comes to sports, and living through the 1980s-2010s in the USA. I know first hand that culturally, boxing is a now niche sport in America now, whereas at one point in time it was one of if not THE favorite spectator sport. I doubt boxing is in the top 6 or 7 in interest from the public. Nobody in USA cares about boxing other than the odd "mega fight" here or there.

This is not exactly brain surgery to figure out, the more popular something is with the populace, the more likely you are going to see top athletes enter that sport.

Quite honestly, I feel like the "truth" is somewhere in the middle. The rest of the world has caught up, as you say - and what you are saying does have merit.

However it doesn't ALSO change the facts that "our" (as an American) best athletes no longer enter professional boxing. You can talk about "facts" all you want, but these are "facts" sir.

So it is both - the rest of the world has caught up AND boxing has declined in the USA over the years.

Rubbish, everything you are telling me is not factual but pure opinion. The world has caught up. Every country on Earth has multiple sports, so your assertion that American sports are reducing Boxing talent goes out the drain.

Sports can co-exist with each other, as every sport is different, there will always be people that prefer one sport over the other, especially with such a large population to choose from, there will be a segment of the populace that go in to baseball, basketball, hockey, Football, etc etc. The American population has also increased, so thus there should be more qualified Americans today that are WILLING to become pro boxers than there was back in the day (relative proportion).

Some of the highest paid American athletes today are boxers, Mayweather and Pacquiao being some of them. Yes Pacman fights in America.
