Both defeated IronMike. But really were they greater than him?

What didn't work for Tyson in the matches against Holyfield and Lewis?

I don't know, we can all agree that the Mike Tyson Lennox and Evander fought was a shadow of his prime.

But Evander and Lennox are both excellent, ATG's.

I think it boils down to ring IQ rather than Physicality. It takes more than just the physical prime for an athelete to become an ATG, your trainer, your team, your strategy, your ability to think on your feet and adapt all play a part.

A Tyson did not have a good enough strategy against Lennox or Evander. He knew how to fight, but only what he practised so much in the gym, he did not know how to be creative with his god given toolset and effective techniques.

Tyson as a result was limited due to his mentality, his inability to think himself towards a victory when his strategy fails him.

Shame really.... if Tyson was smarter... my god.... he would have been number 1 of all time.

    A lot of things....

His strategy was non existent.. I see today fighters like Oscar Rivas come in to fight Dillian with a clear strategy to avoid the left hook, and he executed that perfectly. But like Tyson, he couldn't adapt and overcome against the jab. And that's how Tyson failed against Lennox's reach. He was frustrated, didn't know how to close the distance, didn't want to try new things.

Against Evander, Evander clearly had dirty tactics in using his head to butt Tyson constantly, which frustrated Tyson... but instead of finding a way to overcome it... Tyson got angry and flusstered and bit of Evanders ear to prevent him from bringing his head close again.

He should have tried something new like lateral movement, or side step and uppercut... but Tyson did only what he was trained to do.

Tyson is the second most iconic boxer of all time after Ali so he will be talked about and remembered much more than both but in terms of actual career both Lewis and Holyfield were more successful than Tyson.

I have no issue bringing up other boxers in a topic discussion on boxing... in a boxing forum.

And nothing you can say to me, will make me feel bad or guilty about that. I am not the only one to have done so, and will not be the last person to drop names of other boxers, in a boxing thread.

    Right...

Funnily enough, I am not the one with the issue here, it seems the word "Whyte" ignites so much drama in a boxing forum.

    Astonishing.
