I guess we can all agree, as good as Usyk is, it is too late for him to achieve what the cruiserweight Evander went on to achieve in the HW. Evander was a masterful boxer, a complete fighter, ATG. What he achieved as a smaller man in a stacked HW division is nothing short of extraordinary. Usyk, no matter what he does now at 32, just cannot match up. He will always be regarded as below Evander in status. Who do you predict history will remember as the better overall fighter...?
At Cruiser, Usyk has the better resume, as much as I like Holy, the two best he fought at Heavy beat him, he could hang with them but it was uphill for him if they were elite and big..
I agree. But I also think its simply due to the fighters of today's era, in comparison to Holyfield's era. Plus the peds.
Qawi was a better cruiser than anyone Usyk has fought. Holyfield, I’m certain, had more title fights (and maybe more title fight wins) over the course of his career than Usyk has had fights. Same for legit top-10 contenders. He beat far more guys who are or will be Hall of Farmers. This is clown thread. Usyk may accomplish a lot yet, but he hasn’t even had a heavyweight fight to date and still doesn’t have one scheduled.
@IntentionalButt Has already answered the Cruiserweight question definitively and succinctly. https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/usyk-is-the-goat-cruiser.611255/ As for a run at Heavyweight, we'll know in a few years.
Cruiserweight career is edged by Usyk, but Holyfield had a ATG HW career whyle Usyk hadn't even had his first fight yet. Still, it's all an unfair comparison anyway because Holy's career was largely drug fueled. I dare to say that he wouldn't even have had a HW career if it wasn't for the HGH.
Unfortunately for Hollyfield he stepped up into a HW division dominated by a clown. Uysk will step up into a golden era where the deposed ATG Joshua will eventually set a new benchmark for boxing. For that reason alone, Uysk will be remembered as the greater of the two... But yeah, seriously.... let the man debut in the division before we judge him...
I say this because Usyk has only so many years left, whereas Evander has had a long illustrious career at HW Usyk has a long way to go
I'll take Usyk's run at CW. Holy did amazing at HW really although his whole thing is a bit tarnished seeing as he was juiced to ****
Holyfield by a landslide. Usyk is not in an era of great heavyweights to accomplish what Holyfield has accomplished.
How is it better? Holyfield went 18-0 (14) at CW overall, 6-0 (5) in CW world title fights, and 3-0 (2) vs. Hall of Famers. He beat world title holders Booze W8, Qawi W15 and KO4, Ocasio KO11, Parkey KO3, and DeLeon KO8. He also beat HW Olympic Gold medalist Tillman KO7. Qawi is a Hall of Famer in the IBHOF and the only other fighter who was able to stop him was George Foreman KO7. DeLeon is a Hall of Famer in the WBHOF.
Usyk is 16-0 (12) overall and 7-0 (6) in CW world title fights. I don't know if any of the guys he beat will make the Hall of Fame. He has beat some good fighters though- Glowacki W12 Hunter W12 Huck KO10 Briedis WMD12 Gassiev W12 Bellew KO8 Huck and especially Bellew were past-prime though. He is pretty close to Holyfield at CW but I wouldn't say better.
Holyfield an Usyk are similar both were Deadly at Cruseaweight .. Holyfield was best there in his day an Usyk repeated it decade or more latter so I'm expecting big thing's from Usyk in da HW an he can Do it never say never not impossible when U know witch way to go can't say witch one is or will be Better . Time well definitely tell
