I wonder if AJ's more like Bowe, in that I get the feeling all he really cared about was winning the title. I'd be happy to be schooled differently on this.
A blind man could see Lewis says whatever Haymon tells him too. He works for PBC, of course he is going to cry about Joshua, he also talks up Kownacki as a credible opponent for Wilder lol.
Wasn't given the answer as well though was he? He's well-trained enough in media to know what he was doing. Can't farm this off on the person who asked the question....
I literally don't pay any attention to this kind of thing, usually. What's he said that was especially critical of Joshua?
I meant in regard to him being 'focussed on one man'. He'll have been asked a bunch of stuff and this was one of them. As for his answer, not a safe anodyne, kill the story response, but it looks like a genuine one. Maybe a sign that they're not going to continue down the same humble path for this phase of his career, or maybe he was just pissed off. Or both.
Gotcha... fair point. He could have batted it away and chose not to. I'd rather he'd be real than media savvy all the time, even if being real makes him less popular with the wider sporting public. You literally can't be a top boxer and be a nice guy, imho....
AJ is reading from barry hearns script, he didnt just think of that in the interview it was scripted like all his social media videos. Old Barry and Eddie started the whole 22 fights argument, and hey why is Barry bitter, he says he had 50% of Lewis for his first 7 fights! Oh did Lennox leave you and sign elsewhere! Eddie started teh whole jealous line. Joshuas problem he is in a bubble with these guys, the social media and commercial money men, the yes men and fitness trainers.
Joshua said he was distracted by booing at MSG, was distracted by thoughts of Wilder, now with his biggest fight looming he is engulfed in bitterness towards Lewis, the guy has no focus!
I think both Fury and Wilder would cream AJ. Wilder's right hand would cause a count-out. AJ to me is a little like WItherspoon as far as I'm concerned: flashes of all-time-greatness that ultimately got negated by people he shoulda beat. But who knows, maybe AJ is the next Lewis and will come back to redeem. I don't see it happening, in fact I see Ruiz stopping him earlier next time. He knows what to do, it's like Foreman-Frazier in that respect.
He wasn’t criticising Lennox as a fighter but more his attitude and he’s right, AJ wants everyone to succeed but Lennox those past few years was speaking like he was wary of Joshua surpassing his legacy so kept belittling him.
If that's true then LL is pretty dumb. Lewis is only after Ali, Holmes, Louis, and Holyfield as the greatest ATG heavy, period. AJ...does he even make anyone's top 20?
Not a real champion if he cant handle booing let alone real pressure. Joe Louis fought Max Schmeling in 1938, imagine the pressure he was under during the Nazi uprising in Europe at the time.
