I'd get you seeing it and saying it if you knew him in "real life" and not just what you're fed. It's a silly thing to say really. And I'm not sticking up for aj here, you may be right but I don't know him either and for me to judge him as a person just by what we're spoon fed is, well just nonsensical.
Although Lewis has always been annoyingly pompous, at least he walked the walk. AJ is coming off like a spoiled, pampered baby. He better redeem himself in the rematch with Private Pyle, or nobody is going to ever again care what AJ has to say.
Sounds like Larry...they're both so obviously elite ATGs it's kind of bizarre they would worry so much. If LL wants to worry about someone being above him (besides Holmes, Ali, and Louis who most folks think are cast in stone above him) he could worry about Holyfield. I personally put EH above LL (I've got them 4 and 5, respectively) and I know others do, too.
Level of hypocrisy from some is remarkable. People who regularly slag off boxer after boxer are suddenly aghast at someone being called a clown. People who moan that AJ is a phony, media friendly construct are suddenly appalled that he's not showing respect to former champs. It's almost as if they are actively looking for something, anything to get annoyed about. Meanwhile the same people don't bat an eyelid when Wilder starts talking about wanting a body on his record. Smh
Good shout, Holmes is another insecure ATG who again could have put his vast knowledge to use, but would never want to help anyone surpass his own achievements. I think most on here are far too young to have watched Lewis from his early days to the end of his career, but he was never popular and always had a chip on his shoulder in interviews. When it came to his craft, he was mentally as tough as they come, but outside of his comfort zone he was mentally weak, but masked his insecurity in aloofness and arrogance. He was a difficult boxer to like in and outside the ring and was regularly criticised for the way he fought. With all that said, it's no surprise (to me at least) that he's been highly critical of Joshua, who basically won olympic gold (regardless of whether people think he deserved it) and was/is adored by the british boxing public before his pro career even started. Maybe that would also have been Lewis had he not fought for Canada, but there's a smack of resentment everytime he speaks on Joshua.
There was a video on youtube which ha ssince vanished that Joshua said he has achieved more than Lennox lol, the arrogance is why he will lose again. He talked about being distracted by boos at MSG by wilder and now he is reading prewritten scripts about Lennox to promote Skys new show. Anything for money with this kid, he is a fraud.
I can tell you what it is and I can’t stand it.All sports stars in the U.K. are coached in media relations and it’s sounds awful.I can’t listen to any of England’s cricketers speak as it’s just drivel and this explains why Joshua was bereft of any ideas as there’s no self responsibility for your own game.
“At least he walked the walked” ... as someone who I presume has either never boxed before, or has far far less boxing experience than Joshua, you must see the irony in what you’ve said?
Bit disrespectful of the bodybuilder to talk to a senior member of the bomb squad like that , and Deontays personal mentor who taught him how to throw a jab in a abandoned car park.
