Worth a listen if people haven't heard it. Talks about Frank Warren lying to him with his first contract and he was getting paid peanuts for years. He also said the contract he had was so bad his brother decided to knock boxing on the head. When talking about his regrets he kept coming back to that first deal with Warren - must have been awful. Also says when his brother Vinny had died, AJ called him up and paid for the funeral. BJS also got in touch with his pal and paid for the coffin. I have a lot of mutual friends with Kev, absolute top bloke and very popular round our way. Which shows with how many tickets he used to sell. A shame he didn't win that world title. Has a book coming out in November.
Pretty much any podcast app, I use Podcast Addict. The series is called Boxing Life Stories by Tris Dixon. If you have never heard them, there are so many that are worth a listen.
It’s boss that the likes of AJ and Saunders rallied round him. Not the two people you’d expect either to be fair and not a word had been mentioned so clearly done it out of goodwill as opposed to publicity.
Credit to them both. Goes to show what a character that Fish eyes has been throughout his career. How he doesn’t attract more criticism is beyond me
Fact on both parts. How Warren gets worshipped on here by some quarters is mental, never has a “promoter” over here ****ed over so many fighters for so much bunce, hence why he’s missing half his lung...
Its crazy the stick Hearn gets in comparison. When fighters are risking their lives for our entertainment, the least they deserve is to be paid and on time. One does this without fail, the other doesn't.
There’s two sides to every story- would be interesting to hear Warren’s side. I remember hearing stories about Frank having to lend Mitchell thousands of pounds as he we pissing up his purses in the boozer and in the bookies. Frank also spent a fortune getting West Ham to host his fight with Katsidis and Mitchell didn’t even train properly and got battered in 2. I will have a listen to the podcast.
I’m sure frank did all of that out of the kindness of his heart... Though we all know Kevin didn’t help himself throughout his career.
I’m pretty sure a relative or best mate of Kevin’s would post on here quite often and would always have good inside info on who he was fighting next. I think his username was @THE PRINTER
