If AJ gets stopped by Ruiz again, new profession?

    Wouldn't say it's all over for him if he loses the rematch. His stock will go down for sure but there's still good opponents out there for him and he would still be a big draw in the UK anyway. Could he comeback from another loss? Up to AJ really. Long road back to being in the mix at the top but it could be done.

    Riddick Bowe and Mike Tyson were already past it around that age.
    Not everybody is Lewis or Klitschkos, who were still good even after 35.

    De La Hoya lost fights, but still remained a tremendous draw.
    Same with Pacquiao, Cotto, Ray Robinson, RJJ, Tyson...

    All it takes is the right opponent. RJJ vs Tarver trilogy is a great example. Each sequel outdrew the previous fight in PPV sales and live gate. Jones Jr. lost two back to back fights via KO.

    Cotto lost back to back fights, yet his comeback vs Rodriguez drew the highest rating on cable boxing.

    Tyson was a box office smash till the end.

    AJ is good enough to compete at the top. So if he looses to one guy, it won't end his career. He is still good enough to beat the majority of top contenders.
    His brand is too big to fail because of a few losses. The casuals don't really care about losses. They are there for the event.

    Hernan Marquez was done by the time he hit 25.
    Hopkins was still at the top at 49.

    The extremes exist. Joshua is still young, especially for a heavyweight.

    I think Ruiz does stop him again and no to new profession. He can still beat any other HW on any given night.

    If he loses to Ruiz again by knockout ... we won't see him in 2020. He'll go away.

    Then, after Ruiz and Wilder and Fury settle matters in 2020, Joshua will probably stage a comeback in mid 2021 against a couple no-hopers, and everyone will welcome him back.

    And he'll get another title shot in 2022. He's too big of a draw.

    Depends on how good Ruiz turns out to be after that. Even then, maybe Ruiz just had his number? I don’t see why he should retire. There are legends who couldn’t best not so great fighters. Hearns couldn’t beat Barkley, Marco Antonio Barrera couldn’t beat Junior Jones.
