tl;dr for anyone - his spot for Wilder is still suspended til' the B sample comes back as negative.

I still don’t understand why it’s taking so long, just test the B sample and get it over and done with! The way it’s going he might get to fight 10 more fights in 5 years before testing the B sample! I wonder if that’s the plan:duh

The Jurgen Anti Pudding Agency (JAPA) has confirmed Whyte's P Test has come back positive - there is no doubt he is a pudding.

They must know what the B sample shows so are trying to find a lovely loophole

The B sample will be the same as the A. From what I can see they are just trying to draw it out as long as possible to make it too expensive for UKAD to pursue.

Has there ever been a negative result on the P test?

Yes. Bernard Lagat for example was cleared after his B sample apparently came back negative. There are other examples out there; tests are not foolproof and false positives are possible (although unlikely).

Lagat's A sample result was released in August 2003, and he wasn't cleared until October 2003. The delay in Whyte's case is not necessarily indicative that the B sample will also come back positive.

In the vast majority of cases though the B sample corroborates the A sample, and will lead to a violation unless the athlete can provide a valid explanation, or the authorities for whatever reason do not pursue it.

Sorry - misread original post. I'll keep it up there in case anyone finds it useful :)

Lagat was in 2003. You won't find a case recently where a B sample comes back negative. The only hope for Dillian is some sort of lab mishandling or procedural error and even that is 99% unlikely.

Marian Jones I assume got off on the B sample because they didnt fully follow protocol.

So more a technicality than an inaccurate test

Absolutely ridiculous as he is a confirmed drug cheat but walked free due to procedural error. I think it will take a courageous ex pro to come out and lift the lid on doping and testing before we actually see any progress. At the moment it seems to be cat and mouse.
