You can have all the talent in the world but you'll get nowhere with a bad altitude.

Andrew Selby was never exciting but he had talent before he took time away from boxing due to personal issues. He may sadly have already passed his peak based on what I saw in the Mexico fight. Hope I am wrong.

When you're only 5' 6" almost everything is high altitude. At least he's quite down to earth.

I'm going to be biased because I'm a huge fan but I think you're wrong.

Andrew Selby looked absolutely brilliant up until that fight in Mexico, he would often coast through fights because he was simply too good for who was in front of him. The way he got up from the knockdown against Rosales to absolutely school him looks far more impressive in hindsight. I really hope he pushes on now and rights the wrongs of the way he was poorly managed. I'm sick of the Charlie Edwards X Factor/Matchroom hype train, time for the real deal to get himself back in the mix and get what should be his.

Of interest, if Edwards beats the Mexican handily, will your opinion change?

Edwards is going down the road to fight him, Selby went over to Mexico days before the fight, so no.

This weekend we might know more. If former opponent Flores performs poorly or even loses to Penalosa, Selby was probably never much in the first place. If on the other hand Flores shines in that match, the verdict would still be out.

Your attitude determines your altitude ;)

In fairness to Charlie, I don’t think it’s a hype train of any description, he looks the real deal. And saying it should be his is also harsh. If it should’ve been his, he’d have beaten Martinez

Edwards hadn't fought as many decent opponents to get his title shot, he got another relatively quickly after losing the first against a guy that Andrew Selby coasted to victory against. Carl Frampton said a few years ago that Andrew Selby needed exposure to be fast tracked and that if he was figting at a higher weight he'd probably get it. I think he was right, when Selby was blitzing opponents with flurries of punches whilst dancing and bouncing off of the ropes with boredom he needed a bigger challenge and after the Rosales fight he deserved a World Title shot. Edwards didn't do anything to deserve the shot against Casimero, it was too soon and he was found wanting. He's rebuilt himself well but KOing Nelson early on was the only thing he'd done of any note since then and he got another World Title shot. A tale of two very differently managed boxers if ever there was one.

Just seen he’s fighting this Saturday over in Dubai on an MTK bill. Streamed on IFL I think.
