Weird, disingenuous question; there are loads, but that's no shame on GGG. If it's intended as a hatchet job it's a failure. The MW division is one of the most storied, dramatic, competitive and savage ever. Loads of MW legends would have found that they could be stood up to,-- sometimes by fellow legends themselves, other occasions by serious tough guy contenders. In the case of GGG;- Hagler, Monzon, Griffith, Valdez...oh there are others...Hearns...I lose interest in the question as I type....would have done well toe to toe. Again no shame in any of that for 3G, and apologies, your post is a love letter, not a hatchet job.

Hopkins was a boxer puncher until about the late 90s.
He used to viciously knock people out on Mike Tyson undercards. almost flatlined Joe lipsey with an uppercut, Mitch Halpern had to catch him mid air.

The "old man craftyness" started in his mid 30s.

BHop had good power and workrate when he was younger. The KOs stopped because he stopped throwing as many punches when he got old.

He had the offensive arsenal(in the 90s) to make GGG hesitant like Jacobs and canelo did and the technical skills to not get caught too flush and the chin to take it if he has to against golovkin toe to toe

Keep forgetting that Toney was a middleweight once.

He would make Gennadys head snap back so many times with counters it would be somekinda compubox record.

Though Golovkin has a great chin....he maybe able to take all those shots for 12 rounds., but would loose a decision.

If GGG had fought any version of Hagler at 24, he would have got beaten down. Bet.

Hopkins from the Tito fight would have had GGG reeling.

I agree with what you're saying. The "old man craftiness" definitely surfaced when Hopkins was in his mid 30s, and taking that a step further, he continued fine-tuning those aspects of his game more and more as he approached his mid-40s. His left hand significantly diminished over that 10 year stretch, from say, Tito until Pascal.

I personally think Hopkins from that time is a nightmare for any middleweight who ever laced them up. But that version of Hopkins wouldn't have gone toe-to-toe with GGG.

Most people didn't think he'd go toe to toe with Trinidad, myself included and he did so in alot of spots in the fight. I think he would have done the same to GGG who is basically as big as Tito was, and not as technical.
