The phrase 'out on his feet' mean anything to you?

Sometimes I think some people watching boxing would really benefit from an energy bar at the top of the screen which diminishes like on video games so they grasp the concept of accumulation of punches. By the time Yarde hit the deck, Krusher could have sneezed and there was a fair chance he'd have gone over. He was beyond gassed.

You could sell salt to a slug, mate ;-)

It's ridiculous that a guy at the upper echelons of Boxing can get stopped by a jab.

Clearly it was fatigue, an accumulation etc, but it is what it is - a guy getting stopped by a jab.

Yarde can take a punch, no chin issues I can see, although it remains to be seen if that loss takes anything out of him long-term.

Yarde was simply gassed. It wasn’t a bad chin or a monstrous jab. Even once on the floor you could see he was completely conscious but his body simply had nothing left to try and get up.

He was just physically exhausted, thats all there is to it. He ate Kovalev's best punches all evening and was never in trouble from the power - that kid has proved he has a fantastic chin.

    Debate over.

Goes to show what experience can do for you. Kovalev was nearly gone but handled it so well, Yarde has all the raw talents but just couldn’t quite pull it off.

Kovalev’s jab is probably one of the best in boxing, an absolute weapon.

He was exhausted, plus the price he paid to avoid kovalev's right hand was to eat everything else, the punch acumulation was obvious. There are levels in this sport.

I think Yarde will look back at his strategy and regret trying to walk Kov down. He didn't show enough respect to Kov's power, took way too many unnecessary shots trying to get close and in the end it was accumulation of punches and fatigue that done him.

Clearly, this HAS to raise questions about his punch resistance. Looks like a suspect chin to me.

Walking down fighters is all he's ever done in the ring, because he was fighting cans. And because his trainer doesn't think it important to test out tactics in actual sparring, that's all he was ever going to be able to execute. Effectively, the only sparring he's ever done was in the previous 18 fights. It's a batshyte crazy way to develop a fighter....

Hes lucky he met past prime Kov, the one that fought Cleverly would've stopped Yarde in 4

Kovalev tenderized his chin for 10 rounds then Shattered it with a Jab in the 11th...

Exactly. These trainers put on Mitts and during drills with the fighters the trainers do these wide, sweeping swings with their arms so the boxers can practice ducking under them. And everyone watching "oohs" and "ahhs."

But, unless you're taking on an opponent who just throws wide, sweeping hooks to the head, it's a pretty pointless exercise.

An opponent's primary weapon is the jab. And trainers holding mitts don't do a lot of jabbing.

Yarde ate the jab all night, because Kovalev threw straight shots. Yarde was lost.

Sparring is the most important part of training. Yarde has talent. But he could've used about about two thousand rounds of sparring (about a 100 per fight) up to now.

And maybe he'd have learned how to slip a jab, which basically broke him down one stinging shot at a time.

If your strategy is to walk your opponent down, you can't do it if you can't slip a jab.

The last jab was like the final tap in a cracked wall that brought the whole thing down.
