Idk Duran at 147 that fought Leonard is a totally different beast than the Duran at 154. It would be a slugfest that's for sure. But I would have to give the edge to Hearns.

What? No. Spence was losing to a damaged Kell Brook. His chin is untested but I'd be willing to put money on the fact it's not on Hagler's level. And his workrate isn't as good as Hagler's. Pretty pathetic comparison tbh.
Again, What? 1. Even if this was true, it's irrelevant. No one outboxes Tommy. He's too long, hits too hard and is far too active with his ATG jab whilst being out of range.
    2. This isn't true.
    1. What the **** does that even mean?
    2. When did Crawford make an ATG quit?
Yes. Because Indongo is definitely the same level as Hearns.

How much of Hearns have you seen?

I think if Hearns fought the same guys Floyd did, yes, he would have went undefeated against that cast. I also said in another post I would have favored Hearns against Floyd. Yes, Hearns was unfortunate to have Leonard and Hagler during his time. He was still a great fighter, would give anyone a nightmare, but he was chinny and had a stamina issue that was exposed by Ray and Marvin, and also Barkley and some others... It does (in my opinion and many others) demote him behind Leonard and Hagler. Had he won those two fights, especially the Leonard showdown, he becomes THEE man of the 80's. Leonard and Hearns did not engage in a series of fights to truly prove dominance one way or the other, but I favor Leonard and rank him higher. I disagree about Robinson-LaMotta comparison because, although it is true LaMottta snapped Robinson's win streak, Ray was a welter fighting a middle, he also was not Ko'ed in the loss, he simply lost a close decision to a heavier man. Also, he bested Jake 5 other times....

Yes...don't forget he probably beat Ray Leonard as well albeit at the higher weight.

Great point. Many seem to write this fight off with them being older and such but both were still fighting at an extremely high level. Hearns easily beat Hill 2 years later and Leonard all but shut out Duran next fight and he was coming off that great performance against Barkley.

    Not fair.

Armstrong started out as a featherweight and lightweight, only later moving up to welter and middle.

He would have the same problem Duran had; dealing with the reach, power, and speed of Hearns.

He would have a better chance at junior welter where Hearns wouldn’t be as strong.

Juan Martin Coggi deserves a mention.

I always thought the Hearns at 154 was much more unbeatable than the guy at 147 just because of the experience going 15, and the fact he was so powerful at 147 that he took more chances and would leave himself open. At 154 he was more rounded and had experience. Had he had the experience at 147 as he did at 154, then he would have been hard to beat. Very hard to beat.

That is the story on Duran. Duran was not in shape for any of the fights when he fought a great fighter. Somehow he got in shape and was motivated for fights where he fought guys like Moore and Barkley, but for Leonard 2 and 3, Hearns, Benitez he was not in shape or focused. Somehow if he was focused he would have reversed being knocked out by Hearns in 2 rounds. Reversed being outboxed completely by Benitez. Reversed when Ray boxed him and mentally beat Duran in the rematch and rubber match.

Coggi was an intimidating fighter. He would gain the mental edge by telling Hearns he wasn't the Hitman, 'I am'
Something to that effect. Remember Tommy can't bring his posse in the ring with him. Juan knows this.

Thomas Hearns has flaws as a fighter...but heart and mental strength are not some of them

That's not what Martin Lawrence said or excuse me Martin Payne + Hearns never beat a guy that had 3 names.
