Neither lost to an Alvarez level fighter, or get stopped by a guy at the end of his career coming up in weight. Both have multiple wins better than Kovalevs best wins. How is Kovalev more special again?
Kovalev was past prime when he lost to Alvarez, Alvarez himself is a good fighter, Kovalev avenged that loss. Kovalev got screwed against Ward, and you know this.
Froch: Kessler, Bute, Taylor, Abraham, Groves x 2, Pascal. Kovalev: 50yr old Hopkins, Pascal, Alvarez, Yarde. As it stands, Froch retires way ahead of Kovalev. Kessler is closer, but he’s still ahead for now. I’m surprised anyone is trying to argue different.
Abraham is a bloated up middleweight, overrated. Groves, is overrated Taylor bloated up middleweight Bute was a Hyped up Machine that got Lacied by Froch Kesslers best win was Froch. Yeah no, stop overrating Froch resume, LMAO, then again at least Im not moronic enough to assume Canelo destroys Beterbiev.
How? Abraham was a plodding, bloated up Middleweight, Golovkin would have trashed him in 6 rounds. Taylor was out of his league above 160 and past his best. Groves is nothing special, Overhyped British fighter, like most. Youre a moron.
Because Kovalev has never had to rely on fouls to win fights and he also has the courage to fight outside his home country. How many times did Ward fight abroad again?? How many elbows, low blows, head butts and bending below the waist did Ward do throughout his career?? Over a thousand you recon? YDKSAB. STFU
The term does get thrown around loosely and I guess we all have different qualifications that make an ATG,Ward didn't have the most attractive style and was never that popular but it seems like there is a lot of hate because of the Kovalev fights that is held against him by some unhappy with those results. He's clearly an ATG and 1 of the smartest fighters of all time being 1 of the few fighters to retire undefeated at the top after having the amazing career which included reaching the top as an amateur winning olympic gold. The facts are he dominated and beat all the top super-middleweights including easily winning that super6 tournament beating future HOFers Kessler and Froch before KOing lineal light-heavyweight champ Dawson who moved down a division after his win over Hopkins. After having 2 years of his prime out of the sport because of a promoter dispute he had couple good wins before fighting and beating top 10 P4P fighter and unified WBA,IBF,WBO world champ Kovalev in a close controversial fight before KOing him in the rematch,he spoke of possibly fighting for Cruiser or Heavyweight title but instead retired with no negative health effects from his brilliant 13 year HOF career. How many other fighters have been or come close to retiring undefeated as 2 division unified world and olympic champion?
Bigger puncher sure. And superior boxing skills to Froch. Not sure he's overall that much greater than either, though.
H2H he's a better fighter. Can't really see him losing to either of them. As far as accomplishments go it's closer than the relatively wide gap that is H2H abilities. Kovalev was a more dominant champion he ran through his division with much greater ease than Kessler and Froch did. He only had problems with Ward and he won that fight, I feel like I've had to say this 100 times here before here, but Kovalev beat Andre Ward.
