Kronk gym fighters train the right hand special. All of them. Full stop. Lennox right hand was so refined, the beauty of it overshadowed its true power. He wasn’t under rated in terms of power, it’s just the other stuff (when averaged 35 jabs a round he was undefeated, his footwork etc) was just talked about more due to boxing wanting to distance itself from the power freak show that was Tyson. So to make boxing look more respected again, they showed him playing chess in training and talked technique to death instead of power.

    This.

His right hand is one of the hardest in human history.

He hit very, very hard. Top echelon power.

For such an imposing physical specimen and power puncher he could be uncommon cautious though, which may be why some mark down his punching power (Wlad was the same).

When he (and Wlad as well) sat down on his punches he was destructive (Ruddock, Golota, Rahman 2 etc).

Lewis had top shelf power. Like Wlad, Steward refined his boxing which may have dampened his power some, but make no mistake, when Lewis sat down on his punches it was Castle Bravo time:

I also think was a monster puncher. I wrote this thread cause in many classifications of the "best HWs hard punchers" made by fans, press, etc. he is inserted even after the 10th position that for me is a blasphemy cause he should stay (maximum) between the prime five positions.

It's his chin I find most underrated. He could take a punch but he was caught with 2 beautifully timed rights that he couldn't take

In the ninth round of the McCall fight Larry Holmes took a shot easily as hard as ko'd Lewis in the ninth round of the McCall fight and kept going. If anyone might have been floored by that shot, it would have been Larry (you know just as well as I do that particular punch was Larry's career long Achilles' Heel). This was also what, an early forties Larry? To me that's just one bit of evidence that proves LL had at least an inconsistent chin.

Also, given what happened in the 90s, does anyone really believe pre-Steward Lewis could have taken Bowe? Bowe hit at least as hard as both McCall and Hasim (when he chose to), and was such an overall better fighter than those two it's ridiculous.

I rank Lewis' right near Foreman and Wilder's. That's saying one yee-haw of a lot imo.

I think it's the speed of LL and DW's right that makes it so exceptional and such a fight-winner. To be nearly as powerful as Foreman yet faster...there's a championship recipe imo.

In the same way that Foster's ko of Tiger was one punch, though with a left uppercut preceding it that enabled Tiger's chin to be exposed for that left hook.

Lewis had thunderous and clean one punch power....rivaled only by Tyson.

Louis and Dempsey both had the hand speed and power to produce spectacular one punch kos. Obviously Marciano with his KO of Walcott could be quite explosive.
