Is it true that punch technique creates power?

Yes you cannot deliver a powerful punch without knowing how to throw a punch.

That right hand is a beauty tho. He puts everything into it. The one he KO'd Stiverne with was picture perfect. Funny enough, the previous right hand he threw was as sloppy as one could be.

As a general rule, it's true. But there are guys that simply cannot generate much power. Paulie comes to mind.

Wilder throws straight rights brilliantly, one even pierced the guard of Stiverne, the right hand that destroyed Breazale was straight as an arrow, nothing wrong with his technique in those two fights at all.

If you think those guys didn't know how to throw a punch with good technique you are blind. Technique and boxing ability are not the same

Power develops at an early age, or maybe it's true and some people are born with it. Either way I've known people in my life, big dudes that look like they should be able to bang, they have heavy shots they just don't have the snap. No amount of technique or training is going to change that.

Power is weight transference, you need technique to achieve that. Just like there are many ways you shoot a ball into a basket, it’s not so much the method but the fact that the technique works in achieving the end goal.

Hamed has great technique for weight transference even if it’s unconventional.
