you guys citing Wilder just don't get it. He has beautiful technique when throwing the right hand. The other punches....eh' not so much. There are guys that have insane athleticism and can generate serious heat despite their garbage technique. Valero vs. Demarco comes to mind. If these guys actually had technique....my god they would be murderous.
This. When Wilder takes his time and sets his punches up his punching technique is actually very good and is very effective. However, his footwork on the other hand is terrible and sometimes gets in the way of his ability to land his power shots.
His mechanics when throwing a punch are spot on. You’re thinking about boxing technique/form overall, not timing/coordination of the kinetic chain in a single punch. Wilder is coordinated and commits to punches, the same way Marciano did.

If you gave a pillow fisted guy extreme strength, taught him to snap his punches, transfer force, and punch through the target, he would be a devastating puncher. This is regardless of what he was born with. Now body structure does contribute to force generation. Some people have the certain frame shape that makes it easier to punch. I believe long arms and broad shoulders help with straight punches.
He has a very wide arc when he throws his power shots, it's a combination of that and the speed at which he can do it.
