Wilder isn`t as famous as previous heavyweight champs and Ruiz is almost totally unknown, will the heavyweight division become uninteresting to the American fans eventually? The signs are not good, yet Wilder just opened a burger joint in England.

Depends on the champions honestly. Do you have guys like the Klitschkos who fight bums in Germany and Moscow in a boring but efficient manner? Do you have champions like Fury and Wilder pour their hearts out in Los Angeles? Joshua Ruiz at MSG.

American boxing fans want the same thing they’ve always wanted in the heavyweight division. Heavyweights! Men who can knock out other men in dramatic fashion. Not out point them. Not barely get by with a split decision after twelve rounds of hugging. Knock them out. Decapitate them and move on to the next. Heavyweights who fight the best because they want to be king of the mountain, not king of the paycheck.

Not very long once Wilder and Ruiz get schooled by Fury and then Usyk does the same and then Hrgovic makes it to the top

Deontay Wilder and Andy Ruiz are not marketable and both lack charisma, so they won't ever be popular. Sooner or later there will be another charismatic *AND* great HW from the USA, its just not one of these two.

Wilder is fun to watch but, let's be honest, he's mostly a can crusher.

Ruiz I like but he's somewhat bland and short on resume.

Neither are exactly Mike Tyson, Ali, Marciano or Dempsey in terms of their marketability.

Wilder blew it from fights 20-35. That is the time to raise that level of competition, call out named fighters, beat them and show America that they have an exciting winner on their hands, somebody to back all the way to the top. But between 20 and 35 he was fighting the same level of bums he were fighting from 10-20. Also i believe Finkel was keeping Wilder on the downlow until the Klitchko's retired so was not shouting from the roof tops to get the attention you need to build a star. But that crappy opposition and the fact Americans grew tired and wary of him fighting nobodies over and over and over again instead of progressing stopped him becoming a much bigger star.

The huge American market is still there, if anything bigger than its ever been. They just need a few Heavies who look like they could be rulers of the division and they will soon get excited again.

Ruiz ins't unknown , look at the views he has on JRE compared to Crawford. Look at the views he has with Wilder when they were pundits For Pacquiao Thurman. Huge views.
Ruiz and Wilder may be the most popular American boxers right now.

If nothing, the current heavyweights have inspired the future generation I believe.
Joshua, lifting weights, looking sharp, probably the most professional out there, training to perfection.
Wilder, showing that one strenght can outweigh everything.
Fury, very charismatic and confident, a great talker and skilled boxer.
    Ruiz, the overweighted guy.
Whyte, the boxer with little amateur experience.
    Ortiz, the old fox.
    And many more...

Anyone can make it to a title/payday/top fight. I believe that these guys have brought attention to HW boxing and that the result will be seen after they're retired. Eventually, even in usa there will be new upcoming boxers. I doubt however that it will be guys like Mike Tyson, the future belongs to tall guys. Also, boxing will hardly become more popular than basketball, football or UFC.

The heavyweight division has been losing popularity in the US ever since Tyson and Holyfield went into decline almost 2 decades ago.
