How did you score Ali vs Foreman before the end?

I actually think that the scoring in this fight was close

I had it 4-3 to Ali. Foreman for me won rounds 2,3 and 5. I believe that it is a fallacy to say that Ali gave Foreman a boxing lesson. While his boxing skills were far superior Foreman lost mainly because he was tired after 3 rounds and was exhausted after 5 rounds. He had not trained for a long fight and had never fought past 4 rounds in nearly 5 years.

Also its easy to score rounds for Ali when the crowd are making noise whenever Ali lands a single jab but are ignoring Foreman's punches.

The first 3 rounds are very close but rounds 2 and 3 I would give to Foreman. In round 5 it is obvious that Ali is trying to tire Foreman but despite a rally at the end of the round it is still a Foreman round.

The Judges scored it 4-2-1 to Ali so it was fairly close on a scoring basis.

 

I had the fight close too. Very strange fight from a lot of reasons...going back to Foreman getting an eye cut in training, the fight being postponed 30 days, and Ali saying he wanted the fight to go on (not totally cancelled), and he wouldn't even hit Foreman's damaged eye area.

 

I'm counting the eighth round as it was almost finished at the time of the knockout.

it's fun like many ali flatterers trying to expone it like a totall lesson of boxing or it was a plan.... lmao... ali had no clue about any plan before of the fight.. he was scared after the first round,he was desperated and he did the best that he could taking a lot of damage and pissing blood after of the fight.he survived he showed huge mental strength and great stamina and he was lucky that foreman gassed and end of history... ali would not beat foreman in a rematch and it was the only motive why we never saw ali-foreman 2.he gave rematches to frazier,norton,liston,
patterson etc but no rematch for george that was better than all them?totally laughable

Come on man. Ali wouldn't have beat Foreman in a rematch? Jimmy Young beat Foreman dude. As a matter of fact if foreman actually beat Young an Ali rematch was inevitable.

As for the bolded Ali landed right hands at will in the first round and looked extremely confident. By your post above anyone would think it was a miracle Ali won. It wasn't, he controlled the fight and laid George out.

 

Ali was clearly ahead, in control, and fighting his fight.

 

Ali should of given a re-match before Foreman's loss to Jimmy young. Instead he gives Angelista who had to be forced into the top 10 rankings a chance Foreman had won lots of fights before his loss.

I really think that Foreman's fault in the first fight was a lack of stamina and thinking that he would KO Ali early because he thought he was invincible. A re-match would have been a Foreman ready to fight 15 rounds and I think it would have gone the distance and it have been fairly close. Possibly similar to Ali- Shavers but Foreman would have learnt lessons and it would be fairly even.

 

Ali was winning the fight as soon as he came in to the arena ,the crowd was all ALI. Muhammad soaked it all up .Foreman was fighting more than one man in there. But as for the actual scoring I've got it 4/3to Ali also .

It's kind of hard not to be influenced by knowing how it ends. Ali goes periods without really throwing, but Foreman's work is just so ineffective a lot of the time, mostly hitting the arms and gloves, that it often does little to win the rounds.

 

I had Ali winning every round, handily. Foreman had too much trouble landing flush, and at times Ali was blinding in his combinations.

I maintain the belief that Ali was in control from the beginning, Foreman lost every round because he just didn't look as fresh or snappy. Just my opinion.

 

Ali and scared in the same sentence?

 

Why not? Courage isn't the lack of fear. It's what you do when you're scared that determines things.

 

Oh, and I had Ali up 5-2 going into the 8th.

Some people though just relish the challenge.
Ali certainly didn’t look like frightened man in the 1st round of that fight.

 

No, he did have the gift of always looking in control.
