I still think Povetkin gets his man

 

Struggling to pick one of them with any confidence, I'm seeing it as a 50/50. If the judging is fair, I'm gonna go with Povetkin on a points decision. Possibly a late stoppage. I could make a case for how either of them might win. If Hughie can find it in him to just show a bit more aggression and let his hands go more, then he has a very real chance of beating Povetkin.

 

My prediction is Fury will make me fall asleep with his lethargic club fighter schtick, but I'll jerk awake when the commentary increases in volume as Povetkin knocks him out.

I will briefly muse on how predictable this all was and feel a tinge of sympathy for the individual who has to wipe Fury's pus and acne blood off the canvas. Then I will take a dump and go to bed asking myself why did I bother.

 

Povetkin’s only got about 4 rounds in him now. He’s going to burn a lot of fuel trying to land a significant shot on Fury early on as he will know that’s his best chance. For all his faults offensively with using his left hand and even disguising his right hand, defensively he is very good. This will be a good win for Hughie.

 

I really hope Hughie does it but I think Povetkin will be too heavy handed for him and KOs him.

Really bad match making by Hughies team in my opinion to only beat guys outside the top 50 and to match him with legit top 10 guys in Povetkin, Parker and Pulev.

Should be fighting the likes of Jennings, Kownkacki and Breazeale.

 

Povetkin will be 40 in 2 days time.

Age is a very important factor. There are no professional fighers in history who are as good at 40 as they were at 35. They are in comparison better at 30 than they were at 35.

 

Povetkin is well past it.

Hughie to win and not look impressive in doing it is my prediction.

 

Would love for Povetkin to wipe the skirt out. One Fury stinking out the joint is more than enough, two is basically a human rights violation. Sadly it won't happen, impossible to KO a negative marathon runner.

You trying to hard to be funny. No way is Hughie getting knocked out tonight. Look forward to hearing your reply once Fury beats him and makes it look easy.

 

There are exceptions to the 30 year fighter always being better than when they was 35 years old.

Look at Chisora, his by far 2 best career wins came the age at 34 and 35 and Chisora looks better than ever now.

I would argue Lewis was in his prime 32-36.

Liston was 32 when beat Patterson.

Wlads best peformances were against Haye, Povetkin and Pulev when he was between 35-37.

Hopkins was 39 years old when he beat a 31 year old ODH and Hopkins was 36 when he beat 28 year old Trinidad.

Calzaghe past 30 when he had his two best wins over prime fighters. Calzaghe was 35 when beat a 28 year old Kessler and 33 when he beat a 28 year old Lacey.


However Povetkin does seem to be in decline ever since post Duhaupas fight.
