    1) Carlos Monzon: Some of us have dragged King Carlos’ name through the mud on occasion because he beat up women and civilians, and killed his wife with his own hands.

    2) Sugar Ray Leonard: Receives a ton of personal hate for being fake, arrogant, cowardly, etc. because he was opportunistic in scheduling some of his fights and in insisting on certain conditions. (This Leonard hate often comes from people who idolize Monzon—go figure).

Who else is in the running?

EDIT: Criticisms of a fighter’s h2h abilities or the quality of his wins or overall resume do not count.

Tyson, for sure. Holyfield gets a surprising amount too. But otherwise it mostly doesn’t seem too ad hominem/personal, imo (except for one-off posters who have vendettas).

Which Marciano and Corbett criticisms do you consider to be ad hominem?

Mayweather is a good call too. Gets criticized for being a coward and for being too braggadocious.

Dempsey. Modernist types been after ye olde devotees for as long as this place has been here. Marciano i'd say. Johnson comes round now and again. Lewis, Vitali, Wlad. A lot of that is general for some reason probably unfortunately related to race.

Wilder, Fury and Joshua absolutely bring out the worst in people.

Not sure I'd call it an Ad Hominem, if someone was a really shitty person there's no reason it shouldn't be called out.

It's only an issue if their personality is conflated with their skills.

You’re right. And the shorthand way I used “ad hominem” is technically incorrect in general. So I’m going to change it to “personal.”

The moment Canelo retires and becomes eligible for the "Classic Boxing Forum" discussion, he wins the Gold, Silver and Bronze medals and nobody even gets near the podium.

I'd say Ayala Jr. gets a right shelling here (and probably deservedly so,,,,)
Mayweather is winning no consensus popularity contests either.
When Senor Pepe' was here, Ali could do no right and clearly was part of the Illuminati.

Can anyone remember itrymariti (spelling?) who used to post on here. He was knowledgeable and a pretty good interpreter of fights, a really good poster tbh. He fecking HATED Monzon and Foster and was pretty hard on Arguello too, it was weird as all sin and funny. @red cobra can you remember? You had some proper exchanges with him if I remember it right pal.

Currently this Rspen46 jackass, like Richandhuff before him (get it), is all over Pryor with lies and fraudulant incorrect data. Terrible liar with historical events and places wrong.
