First, third, fourth, ninth for me. Scorecard was really wide but can’t complain too much. Lomachenko was the better fighter but Campbell should be proud. I thought Campbell was brilliant in first 4 rounds, kept distance well, held the middle of the ring and then switched to the back foot. Unfortunately Lomachenko worked him out after probably going to plan Q
Also think if davis sorts out his stamina and gets the mind on it...he,ll give lomachenko a fight. Tbf think campbell was a bad style match up for lomachenko. Davis...will struggle to keep the pace...but he has tools that will give lomachenko problems.
I had it 9-3 To Loma plus th kd. Campbell was competetive but he wasn't winning rounds. Everytime he landed he would take 2 back straight away. He was almost out 3 or 4 times in the fight.
Not sure how you could have scored the 12th, Campbell rugby tackled him to save himself! The early rounds were very close tho.
Fair play to Campbell for giving us 12 entertaining fights against my p4p no.1. He was lucky to survive at times but showed serious grit. I scored it wide for Lomachenko who is a joy to watch.
I will and I’ll get back to you. I remember Campbell starting well then getting hurt then Loma doing nothing for the last minute whether by choice or not.
Looks like we scored it the same, and agree, when Campbell had a bit of success it seemed to cost him several clean shots afterwards. Campbell showed heart and good survival instincts and his footwork did limit Lomachenko’s usual lateral movement, but Loma was finding a home for that right hand far too many times straight down the pipe instead.
It was even stevens until about the 4th or 5th at latest with Campbell taking perhaps 2-3 of them. After that it was the Loma show. The KD sealed the deal.
Campbell did better than I expected, the first four rounds were very even. He and Shane Mcguigan obviously prepared well, they had a good gameplan and most importantly Campbell had an excellent first round. Other than the first round the only clear round I gave Campbell was the ninth which looked like a round Loma seemed to take off. Had he been fighting any other lightweight, Luke Campbell would have left the ring tonight as a world champion. it's just a shame he does not have Charlie Edwards luck.
I think there's a few things he could of done differently and had even more success in the middle rounds of the fight. It's hard to even think about though when the crowds roaring and you get sucked into the atmosphere. There was times when he tried to go for too much, but as per above, hard not to get sucked in when your having some success against probably the best fighter in the world at the moment. Regardless, it was a pleasure to watch. Only wish I had gotten tickets now!
Loma wins comfortably on points as expected but credit to Campbell for giving his all even though he was never winning this fight over 12 rounds. Think Loma has found his maximum weight level limit and any talk of fighting Crawford would result in destruction. I stand by my card prediction earlier which was very accurate except Hughie the Skirt losing on points instead of facing the roof.
