I follow this site for information and I'm always interested to learn from those who know a lot more about boxing than I do. Especially technical knowledge.

I'm interested in people's take on the 2016 SHW medalists ... their strengths/weakness + how far they are likely to progress and how long it might take before they could gain a shot at a belt.

    Yoka

    Joyce

    Hrgovic

    Dychko

I've also added in an extra 4 who I follow ...

    Jalolov

    Majidov

    Ajagba

    Makhmudov

Very athletic, huge, good chin and applied lots of pressure.
Very physical, but not overly technical. Don't get me wrong, he can box but when walking people down he comes in at basic angles and doesn't cut off the ring the best. He's got decent punching power but not on the level of Joshua, Wilder and Whyte..
There was a scare in the Jennings fight with a vicious body shot, but that would've hurt alot of guys and he recovered well.

His pressure would cause certain top guys issues, namely Joshua but he needs to get a move as he's 33 and still no where near world level
Good boxer, big punch. Good, energy saving, footwork and has a decent jab, seems to have decent whiskers, but being hit flush by Tom Little isn't proof of an iron chin and isn't exactly encouraging .
For me his biggest weaknesses are his distance management, he needs to improve it if he wants to keep the smaller swarmers off him. That and his Defence. Someone with the stones to trade with him, lands.
He's like a less skilled, harder hitting Vitali Klitschko. It's yet to see how durable he is.
Haven't seen enough if these guys to comment but both have impressive am records and seem promising from the little I've seen.

All wrong for hrgovic man... Distance managment, chin and right hand are his the best part of game
Watch carefully this fight and you will se his chin, when he was 18yo

It's good, I'm not saying it's not. But it needs to be better, much better for the top level.

His chin isn't proven and when Tom Little is closing the distance in on you, you need to get better at it.

This is a much better bunch than what boxing has with Fury and Wilder.

Yep ... and there's also the likes of Milas, Dubois, Sirenko (maybe) + Usyk lurking too.

People make mistakes in actually looking at the time they fought in earlier years.Fighters progress and some exceed at pro level when rules are different.

Being an Olympic champion or medalist isn't a guarantee how good someone is but history shows it favors gold medalists to be Champions we already had one in this era ( Joshua ) and medalist Wilder.

I would probably concentrate on Joyce and Hrgovic ,these two are the immediate threats.

Nothing really stands out for me with the others besides Mahkmoduv and Ajagaba .

Hrgovic will most likely prove most difficult ,he has a nuisance ability to make you miss and just wear you out with disguised power shots coming from weird angles. He has a Vitali Klitschko quality and still getting stronger ,I see it.

Joyce has flaws but can you get by his pressure is the thing ? People are to philosophical with him, hes there to pummel you and wear you down that's it. And he may very well do it going into fight 11 and if he does work behind a jab he will be more dangerous, hes a different fighter at times ,not sure which way he himself will fight I think ? Hes either going to try and work a strategic fight or go full forward and trade ? A combination is what he hasn't mastered.

I believe Ajagba would be the 3rd guy here to look out for, its going to be that one fight hes sharp and on point against a relevant boxer ,the question is when and will it be sooner then later coming off a not so great showing last time ?

Mahkmoduv is a ring bully with limited jab but can see him doing damage to many guys. The three above would be tough fights for him. Hes got a punch and good am experience but ??? I don't know I remember doing a flaw post on him somewhere ,so im assuming h=I did it for a reason ? I remember he relies on being physical and open defense.

The future top guys aren't Olympic medalist imop, they are the guys like DDD and others under the radar and guys like Conto and Sirenko are the guys to really watch .

This is probably true ... but his offense is formidable and he has a vicious uppercut. Dychko will be a tough fight for anyone if he can go 10/12 rounds.

I think Dychko will be a problem (for the belt holders).

Joyce pretty obviously has a ceiling. I would call it overacheiving for him if he ever cracks the top 5. He should have a run at least as a top 15 heavyweight though since he's pretty much there already.

Dychko style is not made for 12 rounds , he's to big and is less effective vs taller guys , he looks good so far with these short C level guys but we'll see ?

I think he's going to get sloppy at one point in past mid rounds fight and get caught. He just looks like his arms are going to get heavy and feet slower as the fight goes longer , every one has flaws but this could be a big problem when he steps up against whoever is top 10 by then.top

Going by am fights is misleading most time , Dychko was getting lit up against Hrgovic in last round 3 and took standing counts and won the fight but was about to be TKO'd . I just don't think the pro game is going to be kind to him , I see him beating a 10 spot ? I like the other guys better , they seem less sparring partner mentality to me ?

Mahkmoduv is bit more than just a puncher. He's the best puncher in many years, but what makes him dangerous is he's very accurate with his punches. Not a one trick pony type like say David Tua was.

He has taken big punches in the amateurs too, so his chin is at least good.

The other guy I would not sleep on is Jalolov. He's an athlete big man, who throws good staight punches. His straight left is a hammer.

With so many big talented guys who can hit, those who can deliver it or take it shall rise to the top.
