Doesn't Povetkin have to be ranked higher than the likes of Wilder, Fury, Ruiz etc?

That’s what I like about wilder. His f.uck it attitude.

Losing to fury he absolutely went for it and scored a crucial knockdown in the 12th to keep the belt on the cards.

Wlad in the same position was still frozen.

Respect where it’s due, and I’m a massive fury man

Let's see Ruiz knocked out Joshua. The same Joshua who a few months earlier knocked out Povetkin. Why should Povetkin be rated higher? If Wilder and Fury were to fight Povetkin next week they both would be heavy favorites to beat him. Granted he's old now but the point is they are clearly better than him.

Yes he beat Eddie Chambers. So what. Who did Chambers ever beat? Was Chambers ever a world champion? Nope.

Same thing with Povetkin. He beats some solid fighters(Chambers, Takam, etc.) but he never beat any great fighters. He never beat any world champions. And then there was the PED accusations, suspension that surrounded him. He was never a legit world champion and no I don't count the wba regular title as a legit world champion.

What Povetkin was and is? Quite frankly the most overrated fighter of his generation and one of the most overrated fighters in history.

Don't get me wrong. He was a good fighter but he wasn't anything special. Nothing for anyone to fawn over as much as some folks on here do. At the end of the day he had good boxing skills. But he wasn't a big guy and except for the time period where a cloud of suspicion hung over him he didn't have enough power to be a feared fighter.

I don't think he would and I say this as someone who was never on the Ortiz Hype train.
Hughie Fury is a horrible opponent to look good against so in that respect he did well but I see the same things in Povetkin that I've always seen in that he doesn't have much of a jab and he often ends up resorting to charging forward to get his shots off.
You could be right of course with Ortiz as styles make fights and he may be able to time him easier than Fury.

Totally agree man.I've done my fair share of hating on Wilder in the past but after beating Ortiz after being rocked and dropping Fury in that last round to scrape a draw, you gotta respect that.
Unlike some I ain't sh****g on his rematch with Ortiz as I still think Ortiz is a live dog in the fight, can't say I think Otto Wallin will pose the same threat albeit Fury keeps talking him up lol.

Think he just wants wallins high ranking and another tune up. I’m not particularly excited but wallin might do better than Schwarz

I was surprised he had a decent ranking.Actually Fury ain't wrong as he said nobody knows how good he is,as he's unbeaten.
What goes through my head is those two unbeaten opponents that Haye fought on his return to the heavyweight division?

hes not beaten one top contender in his long career, and hes had three title shots.

Its a wonder he was ranked high enough to get some of them. Klitschko fans big him up because without him wlads got nothing to talk about in a 20 year career.

And I GENUINELY believe wlad should have been disqualified that fight. It was ridiculous, awful awful win.

A terrible performance from both. Povetkin could have won as wlad was terrified but he bottled it

Awful wasn't it?just rag dolled Povetkin about that night, his jab was mighty impressive though, rocking Povetkins head back with his jab.
Don't know if this true and where I read it?but I heard a back story to Wlads tactic that night and it read that the Russians who put the show on asked Wlad or told him not to knock Povetkin out?Who knows and could be fake news but it could explain why Wlad was throwing him all over the place instead of just knocking him out.

Someone please break down this "great resume" I'm hearing so much about. Then please explain in turn why that in 2019 he should be ranked over the current champions

You never know but genuinely think wlad was absolutely terrified, in Russia and of Povetkin.

Wilder, Fury and Ruiz I can see being above him, but no way should Ortiz be above him. Ortiz has been coasting on his Jennings victory for like three years now and had his hands full with Christian Hammer, whom Povetkin whitewashed only a short while before.

Right now Ortiz probably shouldn't even be above the likes of Joseph Parker.
